Daniel Radcliffe Denies Hitting The Gym To Play Wolverine
Daniel’s recent decision to get toned has sparked a lot of speculation about whether the actor was buffing up to play Wolverine on the big screen. However, the actor recently denied the rumors (again), much to his fans’ disappointment.
During a recent lie detector test with Vanity Fair, Daniel was directly asked if he has been hitting the gym in preparation for the coveted role, which was made famous by Hugh Jackman. Daniel was quick to laugh off the speculation.
“No,” he responded. “Yes. I got buff because I am obsessive, and I want to… You’ve seen my parents, they’re like insane fitness people. So that’s just been passed on. But no. No Wolverine. Flattered, but no.”
The actor’s physique first got people talking when he appeared in the series finale for TBS comedy Miracle Workers in August. Daniel stripped down to his underwear for the occasions, showing off his toned look, which first sparked the Wolverine rumors.
This isn’t the first time the former child star has denied he’s been tapped to play the superhero. Last year he told Entertainment Weekly that while he finds the rumors funny, he can’t confirm their validity.
“Wolverine is short, so every so often they’re like, ‘Who’s a short actor?’ There’s never been any actual truth to it,” he explained. “Every so often I get bored of answering the questions sensibly, so I just make a joke like I did the other day and that sort of has reignited the rumors of it, but there’s nothing going on.”

Daniel, 34, also echoed a similar sentiment when speaking to GQ last year. “I say something, and then occasionally I get bored of answering that way so I say something different, and that sets it off again,” he explained. “I should just never open my mouth.”
He continued, “I just don’t ever want to get locked into something that I am not sure I will be able to love the same amount the whole time.”
Wolverine will be returning to the big screen, but Hugh Jackman will be reprising his role as the iconic character, who he’s been playing since 2000’s X-Men. Jackman will be appearing alongside Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool 3, which is expected to release next year.
There was never any official word that production was considering someone else for the role, even though the Internet would clearly like to see Radcliffe try his hand as the superhero. But as Daniel has made abundantly clear on multiple occasions, it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen, at least not anytime soon.
