Despite being married in real life, Ewan McGregor and Mary Elizabeth Winstead required the assistance of an intimacy co-ordinator for their spicy scenes during filming.
The couple, who have a child together, met on the set of Fargo in 2016 and have since found themselves reuniting as they play lovers in a TV version of Amor Towles’ best-seller A Gentleman in Moscow
Ewan, who famously starred in Trainspotting, said: “We did have a intimacy co-ordinator. It’s still necessary because it’s also about the crew.
“It’s odd to be naked in front of people and intimate in front of the camera. It’s an important part of the work now, because it’s somebody the director and actors meet in the middle.”
Mary, playing the captivating Soviet film star Anna Urbanova, told The Radio Times: “To work with an actor who you have that immediate connection with, there’s no block to get over.”
Two of Ewan’s four daughters are themselves actresses. He believes intimacy co-ordinators could offer protection to their fellow young actors so they don’t have to take part in scenes they are not comfortable with.
Ewan become a father again after Mary gave birth to the couple’s first child together, his fifth overall, in June 2021, reports the Mirror.
His daughter Clara announced the arrival of her new sibling on Instagram, writing: “Welcome to the world little brother. Congratulations to my Dad and Mary – this is the greatest gift.”
In addition to his newest arrival, Ewan has three other children, Jamyan, Esther, and Anouk, from his previous 22-year marriage to Eve Mavrakis.
