Ewen MacIntosh, who played Keith in The Office, was taken to hospital two years before he sadly passed away at the age of 50.
Before he died, Ewen told his fans things were tough for him. His management team, JustRight, shared that he had passed away “peacefully” after staying in a care home in Littlehampton.
They released a touching message: “With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved comedy genius Ewen MacIntosh. His family thank all who supported him, especially Willow Green Care Home. There will be a private cremation for family and close friends soon and a celebratory memorial later in the year.”
Back in February 2022, Ewen had posted on X, which used to be called Twitter, saying: “Bad times for me I’m afraid chums. Stay strong out there,” along with a photo from a hospital bed. In the picture, you could see ECG stickers on his chest, showing doctors were checking his heart.
Fans quickly sent him messages of support. One said: “Hold tight big dog. Sending vibes.” Another asked: “Hey @ewenmacintosh… you feeling better mate? Hope you are back to full health. Dan.” A third fan wished him: “Wishing you a speedy recovery mate, hope you’re ok,”
Ewen Macintosh, best known for his role as ‘Big Keith’ in the hit sitcom The Office, has received well-wishes from fans and fellow actors alike after sharing news of his health issues.
A fan with the same name reached out, saying: “From one Ewan McIntosh to Ewen Macintosh… I wish you well. Anything you want or need?” Even a fan named Derek offered his support, advising Ewen to contact him if he needed someone to talk to.
The actor recently thrilled fans with a surprise appearance on Ricky Gervais’s series, After Life.
Feedback from fans was enthusiastic with comments like: “OMG, KEITH FROM THE OFFICE SHOWS UP IN AFTER LIFE S3,” and “Good to see Keith from The Office making an appearance in season 3 of After Life.”
Known for his characters love for Scotch eggs, Macintosh joined The Office cast in 2011, leaving just two years later. Following his recent passing, heartfelt tributes have been flowing in.
Ricky Gervais paid respect by stating: “Extremely sad news. The very funny and very lovely Ewen Macintosh, known to many as ‘Big Keith’ from The Office, has passed away. An absolute original. RIP.”
Ewen’s friend Gina Lyons shared her sadness, saying: “Heartbroken to hear a very special friend @ewenmacintosh has passed away. He was such an incredibly kind and funny person. Eternally loved.”
The TV channel Gold also paid tribute: “We at GOLD are saddened to hear that Ewen MacIntosh has passed away at the age of 50. We loved him as Keith in The Office and were lucky enough to work with him over the years on the channel. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends at such a difficult time.”
