We turn back the calendar to 2008. The cast of The Big Bang Theory attends Comic Con, and receives a massive reaction from the audience. Fans loved every minute of the discussion. Among the questions asked was the geekiest thing the cast enjoyed. At first, Kaley Cuoco struggles to give an answer, and asks Jim Parsons for help. Parsons hilariously says he has enough pressure of his own to come up with one for himself.
Cuoco then says ping pong is her geekiest thing, to which Parsons adds that Kaley even beat Kunal Nayyar behind the scenes during a tournament. Kaley says how into the match she truly was, but Nayyar came up with a hilarious response to why he was defeated.
Cuoco says, “It was fun. I had an outfit and everything. I had tube socks, it was entertaining.” Kunal hilariously responds, “That’s why I lost.”

Kaley Cuoco Gave Kunal Nayyar Some Crucial Advice Behind The Scenes
Kaley Cuoco looked back on how Kunal Nayyar earned his place on The Big Bang Theory. For Nayyar, the audition was his first major one in Hollywood. Kaley made it clear to the actor that those types of situations don’t usually take place.
“You know Kunal Nayyar from Big Bang Theory,” Kaley said. “I believe that was his first audition. [Either his] first audition or first pilot audition.”
“I remember talking to him, going: ‘Don’t get used to that. That doesn’t happen!’ I couldn’t believe that. That was very similar to what you said, that’s amazing.”
Kaley Cuoco Admitted Appearing On The Big Bang Theory Was A Nightmare For Even The Most Established Stars
Kaley Cuoco revealed appearing on The Big Bang Theory was a different environment for even the most experienced actors.
As for Nayyar, the actor was just as stunned that he had got the role.
He tells THR, “It was amazing. I had no idea I was going to get the role. I remember [co-creators] Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady laughing a lot and I just felt so much in my element. I’d just gotten my MFA in acting from Temple University and was high on life and just got back from the Royal Shakespeare company in England. I wasn’t jaded and didn’t understand the weight of the situation. This was my second job, I played a terrorist on NCIS. I didn’t understand the gravitas of the situation and just walked in. That was so dumb!”
Nayyar turned out to be the perfect fit on The Big Bang Theory, and he had some memorable scenes with Kaley Cuoco, especially early with his character’s mutism around the opposite sex. However, there was a storyline in particular fans weren’t as excited about featuring the two, and that was especially true for showrunner, Steve Molaro.
Despite Their Chemistry, Steve Molaro Claims Penny And Raj Almost Ruined The Show With Their Storyline
Season four of TBBT almost ended with a bang… literally. However, showrunner Steve Molaro spent the entire time off thinking of ways to undo the storyline that saw Raj and Penny in bed together. After the moment aired, Molaro realized the show had made a big mistake.
“I really did not like that season finale ending,” Molaro recalls.
“I spent the entire hiatus being upset about it… I went upstairs to [Lorre’s] office right when we got back to work [on Season 5] and said something like, ‘This is really bothering me. I think I have a way that we can… get out of it and preserve the characters as they are.’ He didn’t love it, but he knew it was important to me to the point that he conceded.”
At least from a fan perspective, most agreed with Molaro’s take and were happy to see the plans for the storyline nixed.
