Johnny Galecki and Melissa Rauch got close on TBBT in a very unexpected way. The moment between the two all started when Rauch was going through the trash, given that she had thrown her meal ticket away.
Spotting it, Galecki told his co-star, “You alright there? Just picking through our garbage?”
The moment turned out to be a great icebreaker between the two, who instantly got close behind the scenes.
“Melissa and I really hit it off. She’s so quick and funny that I just immediately took to her, you know, outside of the trash can incident,” Galecki revealed.

Johnny Galecki’s Chemistry With Another Co-Star Was Instant From The Start
Had it not been for the chemistry between Sheldon and Leonard, The Big Bang Theory would not have worked. The two stars immediately hit it off, and Galecki was a big part of that. In order to know each other even further, Galecki admitted to doing some “accelerated bonding” with Parsons.
He explains, “That often requires some wine to open up and be that honest with one another within, like, six hours. [Laughs] And so, we did. We had many bottles of wine and learned we had so many things in common, including that our grandfathers worked for the railroad, and both of our fathers had passed away at a very early age.”
Galecki continues, “I think we both passed out on my living room couch at one point. And then we woke up and went to the first reading. Apparently, it went well.”
Johnny revealed that it was the same ordeal when it came to the audition process with Parsons.
“It was really amazing to see Sheldon come to life like that. It wasn’t a character that I understood on the page initially and seeing Jim do his first line as Sheldon, I got it and now I get these two together.”
Fans had a blast seeing the chemistry between not only the two stars, but the entire main cast.
