Frank Sinatra’s daughter Tina Sinatra said he suffered from guilt in his final moments.

The 75 year old shared that the legendary singer was regretful about splitting from her mother Nancy Barbato, who had to bring up her older siblings brother, Frank Junior, then five, and nine-year-old Nancy when he left the family home.

Speaking in a new interview, Tina recalled her dad living with “terrible guilt” where she revealed he apologised in his final days.

She told The Mirror: “I had a talk with him near his end, and he told me he was sorry. I said, ‘Dad, it’s a long time ago. Leaving mum was so long ago’ and he just said, ‘I think I hurt you most because you were so young’.

“He knew it hurt that I never knew what it was like to have breakfast with my dad.”

Tina shared that her beloved dad’s nickname for her was “Pigeon” and on his death bed, he uttered three heartbreaking words that have lived with her ever since.

“My dad’s nickname for me was ‘Pigeon’ and I’ll never forget at the end of his life, in the middle of the night in the dark, he said, ‘I’m sorry, Pigeon’,” she recalled.

Tina was just seven months old when her dad left the family home and although they remained in regular contact, he was “physically distant”.

She also addressed a rift with her father in his latter years after he married his fourth wife Barbara Marx.

Tina claimed that Frank had become dependent on his stepmother as he got older but she was admittedly not fond of Barbara.

She became displeased with what she saw going on and stopped talking to her dad for a year – a decision she regrets to this day.

Frank, who has sold more than 150 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling artists ever, as well as an acclaimed actor, was very much a ladies man during his heyday, having tied the knot four times.

He had three children, all of whom were born to his first wife.

Frank met Nancy, his first wife when he was just 19 years old.

They married when Frank was 23 on February 4, 1939, in New Jersey, where he grew up.

Their marriage was a difficult one, as Frank had many affairs which were well publicised.

On October 29, 1951, Nancy and Frank divorced after his affair with actress Ava Gardner became more serious, and eventually, Frank and Ava married. They separated in 1953.

He wed Mia Farrow on July 19, 1966, when she was 21 years old, and he was 50 years old.

They divorced in August 1968, and his final marriage was to Barbara, who he married on March 11, 1976, with whom he stayed until his death on May 14, 1998.
