Monty Don has shared a number of “alarming” pictures of his famous garden. Taking to Instagram today, the Gardeners’ World host uploaded two photos revealing how floods had hit Longmeadow in Herefordshire.

The 68-year-old’s 1.2 million followers were given a glimpse of his garden with a gate partially covered in water, as well as a view of his drenched fields. However, the presenter reassured his fans that he’s “used to it” after some shared their concerns.

It comes after flood warnings were issued as Storm Gerrit struck, seeing rivers rising including the Wye in Hereford. “It looks alarming, but we are used to it,” Monty captioned his latest upload.

He has been keeping users updated on the weather over the last few days, gushing about a pink and blue-hued sky. Monty stated: “After a day of unrelenting rain, wind and grim grey gloom, the sky broke free for a brief flight of fancy before darkness – and more rain fell.”

“It’s a trifle damp this morning…” he had added, once again showing the submerged gate. He appeared to be keeping busy with other gardening tasks in the days following Christmas.

Monty quipped: “At least the potting shed is dry and warm and have begun seed sowing (lots of spring salad leaves as well as tomatoes and chillies).”

User @janekleimunt urged him to “keep safe” after seeing the flood waters, and he made sure to respond.

The user had initially written: “I know you get flooding every year but this looks pretty bad. Keep warm too!”

He wrote back: “No worse than normal.”

The Met Office has issued a new weather warning after gusts of up to 75mph could hit parts of the south of England and Wales tomorrow.

They also predict more rainfall over the weekend.

A forecaster told the BBC: “This system is likely to bring a range of weather including hill snow.

“Heavy rain will spread across all but the far north on Saturday affecting similar areas previously affected by Storm Gerrit. However, this rainfall will be a step down from that seen during Storm Gerrit.”

It comes after a tornado struck Stalybridge, Manchester, with a major incident being declared.
