Gogglebox favourite Julie Malone took to Instagram to announce that their beloved dog, Dave, has died.
In a post dedicated to the rottweiler who frequently featured on the Channel 4 show, Julie penned: “RIP Dave xxx There are no words to describe you, or how much you meant to us. This was you on Sunday waiting for your Dad to come back and he had only gone out to the car.
“We are all going to miss you so much.”
The emotional post was quickly flooded with hundreds of messages from gutted fans. Lou penned: “The only time they ever break our hearts is when they are called to the bridge and we can’t walk them there.
“I’m truly sorry for your loss, he was the best little superstar. Run free Dave, you’ll be missed.”
Celia echoed: “How sad – loved watching out for him on Gogglebox. Run free over [rainbow] bridge Dave.”
David wrote: “Sorry to hear that, Dave was a great dog. The amount of times he used to hit Tom accidentally made me laugh so much.”
While Kiki added: “Oh no so sorry for all the family. He will be missed attacking Tom and barking at the animal programmes. RIP Dave the legend.”
And Lesley replied: “Dave was as much a star of Gogglebox as anyone.”
Since the Malones joined Gogglebox in 2014, fans have been left in hysterics by some of Dave’s most memorable moments.
The huge dog threw the show into chaos in March when he accidentally headbutted Tom while trying to catch a ball, sparking raucous laughter from Julie and son Shaun.
In an earlier episode, Dave memorably knocked Tom off his armchair, leaving him pleading for help from his hysterical family.
