The Hairy Bikers Instagram page has warned fans not to fall for a fake social media account posing as Si King, which has been asking for donations for Dave Myers’ family following the sad news of his death.
In an Instagram Story post, the warning read: “Hello everyone, It’s come to our attention that someone has set up a fake ‘Si King’ profile asking for donations for Dave’s family.”
Fans were urged to avoid sharing any of their personal information or money with the account in question.
The message added: “This is a scam so please avoid clicking on anything or giving out any personal information. Please block and report the page.
“We are aware of the situation and are working to get it resolved. HB Team.”
The sad situation comes just one day after Dave’s widow Lili Orzac shared her thanks to fans for their support following the loss of her husband.
Lili explained that kind messages from Dave’s fans have given her some comfort in her time of grief, while praising him as an “exceptional husband, wonderful stepdad” to her two children, Izabelle and Sergiu.
She wrote in a lengthy post on the TV duo’s Instagram page: “I want you all to know that I have read every single message and comment that you sent… your stories about Dave, your feelings you shared with me mean a lot and my heart is filled with gratitude and love.
“It amazes me how many hearts he touched and how many people wanted to express their love for what Dave and Si have created for nearly 20 years. I know the Hairy Bikers have been part of your living rooms for such a long time and I feel your loss as much as you feel mine!
“My husband, David Myers was a larger than life character and he did everything with passion, enthusiasm and generosity of spirit. His energy was endless when it came to cooking and talking recipes, or biking and talking bikes.
“An amazing storyteller! And through his stories and TV appearances he was constantly inspiring and encouraging people to cook, travel, to live their life to the fullest.
“An exceptional husband, wonderful stepdad, loyal friend and in his own words, a creator, never a follower.
“I feel I’m grieving with a whole nation… and this is something special.”
