“Well, when you think of having sex with someone, you’re normally alone,” Henry Cavill explained to the Irish chat show host. “When you’re on set, you have at least 12 very heavily set men watching you. And it’s not comfortable. And things aren’t happening as naturally as they should.” He added that filming these scenes were “not as sexy” as people imagine they are.

In an interview with Men’s Journal, Cavill opened up about the awkwardness of filming intimate scenes. “You don’t think of sex scenes as showing your bum to the nation,” he explained. “It’s actually acutely uncomfortable being naked in a roomful of people. The very last thing it is is sexy. The actual physicality is very uncomfortable…”

The tables turned when Amy Adams had to apologize to Henry Cavill for her on-set behavior while filming Man of Steel. Before working on Man of Steel, she admitted to Cavill that she admired his toned physique. “I objectified poor Henry,” the Oscar-nominated star told Marie Claire UK in 2016. “I had to apologi[z]e to him at one point… He’s just so good to look at.”

The pair formed a friendship while making the Superman flick. She would often mock the star for being topless in many scenes they filmed together. “In between shots it was like, ‘Put on a robe please, and make everyone feel less bad about themselves!” she told the outlet.

Henry Cavill’s experience filming The Tudors clearly affected the way he tackled any future jobs. Following his exit from Netflix show The Witcher, DeuxMoi spoke about why Cavill might have left.

In an episode of their podcast, it was stated the actor’s issues on the show started when he began using “video game bro language” with his co-workers. His departure has been linked to a toxic environment and issues between the actor and the showrunner.

One of the key reasons Henry Cavill exited The Witcher was because he didn’t want to do any shirtless scenes. Deux U, the anonymous pop culture source, claims on their podcast, “He decided that he didn’t want any romantic scenes at all. No kissing, no shirtless scenes, etc.”

Henry Cavill has spoken up about not feeling comfortable performing intimate scenes in the show. The actor objects to his character, Geralt of Rivia, having an intimate relationship with his co-star Anya Chalotra’s character Yennefer.

“We wanted it to be emotional rather than sexual,” the Enola Holmes star explained. “It was really, really important, and we had to lean away from what was originally on the page.”

Henry Cavill also didn’t want to release any intimate scenes, despite his co-star Chalotra’s preferences. The star believes these intimate scenes should be improvised instead of rehearsed. “It takes some of the magic out of the moments,” admitted the Superman actor.

Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich has claimed to agree with Henry Cavill 100% and limited the raunchy scenes in season 2. “I think that using those things to shock audiences is a really cheap way for a writer to get attention to a specific scene.”

She added, “I’ve always said that if someone has to be having sex behind you to make the scene interesting, then I’m not doing my job. The person who’s talking in a scene needs to be the focus.”
