Howard Stern Slammed Paris Hilton’s Parenting After Defending Her

Highlights

  • Howard Stern defended Paris Hilton against online attacks on her baby.
  • Stern advised against posting pictures of children online.
  • Stern questioned Hilton’s choice to display her son on Instagram.

Despite Howard Stern‘s personal and career evolution over the past two decades, he’s certainly not immune to controversy. Mostly because the radio legend rarely shies away from sharing what’s on his mind. He’s made an absolute fortune doing it, after all. Specifically, Stern is skillful at taking down the rich and famous.

While Howard Stern tends to target celebrities he doesn’t like, such as Simon Cowell or his former friend Donald Trump after their ‘woke’ feud, he also goes after those he’s indifferent to. In October 2023, that happened to be Paris Hilton. Despite defending her following a vicious backlash to images of her baby, Stern took a shot at her parenting.

What Howard Stern Said About Paris Hilton’s Baby Scandal

In October 2023, Paris Hilton faced a barrage of negative comments following the decision to post images of her baby, Pheonix Barron, on Instagram. Hilton’s son, whom she had with her husband Carter Reum, was targeted for the size of his head. Hilton’s Instagram posts were riddled with vile comments, eventually causing the Hilton Hotel heiress to speak out publicly.

  • Pheonix Barron was born on January 16th, 2023.
  • Paris Hilton used a surrogate for Phoenix’s birth.
  • According to People, only Hilton, Reum, and the surrogate knew she was pregnant.

Since defending her son against vicious attacks that we can’t even quote here, Hilton has been seen in public with him again. On October 30th, 2023, Hilton seemed determined not to shield her son from the world by showing off his first Halloween costume.

Given the news this controversy garnered, it’s not surprising that Howard Stern made comments about it on his SiriusXM radio show.

During his October 24th, 2023 show, Howard Stern addressed the controversy. He started by explaining his relationship with Paris Hilton. While he was certainly aware of her, the self-proclaimed King of all Media had only met her twice. Both times were short but positive experiences.

“In any case, I don’t really know her,” Stern said to his co-host Robin Quivers and his audience. “She’s never really been on the show or anything.”

“People were making horrible comments about her son,” Stern said, assuming up the scandal for his audience. He then slammed the haters online trolling Hilton’s baby.

“You got to be a cruel son of a b**** to take a woman’s baby and start ripping into the baby saying he’s ‘ugly.’ I mean, what did she do to you that you would do that?”

“Even if the baby is ugly, you do not say that the baby is ugly,” Robin Quivers added.

“It rips the heart out of a woman. You know, my kids, they’re the best — no one wants to hear people making fun of your kids.”

While Stern certainly didn’t mince words when addressing the internet trolls, he did take a shot at Hilton’s choice to post images of Pheonix in the first place.

“I’m saying this to Paris Hilton out of peace and love, and to anybody… don’t post pictures of your child online.”

“Number one reason [why not to post pictures of your children online], the kid deserves anonymity. The kid deserves not to be commented on by the public.”

Stern went on to criticize Paris Hilton’s decision to make her baby’s personal life public. Not just because it seems like a violation of the child’s privacy, but also because it could be dangerous.

“If you’re going to post pictures of your kid online, don’t b**** about it if people make fun of it. That’s it. There’s a reason people keep things private. It seems like today, no one can keep a f***ing thing private. I have many friends — and I scratch my head over this — who post pictures of their kids online. And I sit there and I go, ‘Why are you doing that?’ Hey, at the worst, you could be inviting a stalker who sees one of these kids — I don’t know, a kidnapper. I don’t know, something. Some weirdo. Some f***ing freak.”

The radio legend went on to say that if a child of a celebrity chooses to make their life public, so be it. But a parent shouldn’t make that decision for them before they are mature enough to grapple with the consequences of it themselves.

This is something Stern himself has avoided with his three daughters. Not only did he protect their privacy as infants, but he has respected their decision to remain out of the spotlight now that they’re adults. So much so that almost nothing is known about them.

Who Are Howard Stern’s Daughters?

According to Hollywood Life

Emily Beth

Occupation: Torah Scholar and ordained Rabbi

Relationship Status: Single

Debra Jennifer

Occupation: Independent Education Consultant

Relationship Status: Married to Colin Christy. Has a daughter, Naomi.

Ashley Jade

Occupation: Nurse Practitioner

Relationship Status: Married to Adam Weinstein.

Stern went on to address Paris Hilton directly, almost pleading with her to give her son some privacy:

“Paris, I get that you live your life online and you like being famous and all that other s***, but leave the kid off there. What are you doing? People are vicious online.”

While Stern didn’t criticize any other aspect of Paris Hilton’s parenting style, he certainly didn’t respect her choice to display Pheonix on Instagram. In fact, he claimed that it was a form of “using”.

“Some people seem to think that having a kid is so you can go online with them. I mean, enjoy your child — Enjoy the experience of being a parent. Don’t use them. It’s a use. You’re using your kid online to get some sort of — I don’t know — approval to show how great you are. To show what kind of mother you are.”

What Paris Hilton Said About Her Baby Scandal

The backlash to Paris Hilton’s Instagram post of her son, Phoenix Barron, caused the former socialite to address the haters head-on. Hilton claimed that the negative comments and online bullying really heart her hurt. In an Instagram story, Hilton wrote:

“This hurts my heart more deeply than words can describe. I’ve worked hard to cultivate an environment that is all about love, respect, and acceptance, and I expect the same in return.”

Hilton went on to address what she feels is a catch-22 regarding whether or not she posts images of her son. While she did this after Howard Stern’s comments, this would likely have been her response to his observations regarding the scandal.

“If I don’t post my baby, people assume I’m not a great mother and if I do post him, there are some people who are cruel and hateful I’m a proud working mom and my baby is perfectly healthy, adorable and angelic.”

The daughter of Richard and Kathy Hilton then claimed that she had “dreamt” about being a mother for as long as she can remember. This evolution in her life has contributed to her personal growth and has grounded her in what truly matters. So, it’s not exactly surprising why she took the criticisms of her son to heart.

“Every day with him is a reminder of what truly matters,” Hilton wrote on her Instagram story. “It’s hard to fathom that there are people in the world who would target such innocence. I hope that people can treat one another with more kindness and empathy.”
