Since a Trump walking the catwalk was seen as a big deal, a team from Inside Edition was sent to document Ivanka Trump’s debut. The resulting footage from that event showed the disturbing way Trump’s catwalk debut was seen at that time in more than one way.

In the days leading up to Trump’s catwalk debut, the New York Daily News reported that she was demanding supermodel wages. According to The List, that meant that Trump was demanding $10,000 to walk the catwalk.

During the filming of Inside Edition’s segment on her catwalk debut, Trump was asked about that report. In response, Trump completely denied she was demanding a supermodel fee. Trump also stated that she was modeling at that time because she loved it and not for the money.

“I don’t need to model. My family has many and they can support me and I model because I love to model, and it’s something I enjoy doing. So, I don’t think it’s fair that they made me sound greedy about it and all. Because, I model because I love to model and that’s really all there is to it.”

When Ivanka Trump spoke to Inside Edition, she very much looked like the child she was. Despite that, there is a moment in the video in which an adult talks about Trump in a way that is gross in every way but even worse given her age.

When the video cuts to a hairdresser getting Trump ready, the man working on the teenager’s hair is a fully grown adult. Even though that man was decades older than Trump, the voiceover suggests that viewers may expect him to be flirting with the teen.

“It was time for a funky do, where her hair stylist was hitting on her dad’s fortune rather than her.”

As creepy as it is that someone in a booth recorded that dialogue about a teenaged Trump, it gets worse than that. Before the voiceover performer uttered those words, it is almost certain that someone else wrote them for her.

After the recording of that dialogue was complete, Inside Edition’s producers almost certainly approved the moment.

After that disturbing dialogue, the voiceover drops out completely and the hairdresser can be heard joking about needing money.

From there, the hairdresser can be heard laughing extremely hard as Trump looked like she was humoring him.

Ivanka Trump Was Insulted Publicly During Her Modeling Career

Before Ivanka Trump made her catwalk debut, she was already building up her modeling portfolio. During that stage, People published an article about Trump’s budding modeling career in June 1996. For that article, People spoke to some modeling experts, one of whom said something pretty harsh about Trump’s looks.

One of the modeling professionals that People spoke to was Natasha Esch, the president of Wilhelmina Models at the time. Asked for her opinion of Trump’s modeling career, Esch didn’t hold back while talking about the teen’s looks.

“I don’t think Ivanka would have started a career based solely on her looks. People are turned on by her name.”

Of course, nobody should be surprised that people in the modeling business get judged harshly. That said, most models don’t have the top people in the business critiquing their looks in a magazine that gets read by millions of people.
