According to various reports, Foxx has been spotted working on the set of his upcoming film Back in Action alongside Cameron Diaz, which will mark her return to acting following a temporary retirement. But it’s also a huge milestone for Jamie, considering what he went through last year.

Filming for the movie was put on pause in April 2023 after Foxx was hospitalized, though the details of his medical emergency still aren’t known.
Jamie Was Hospitalized With A Medical Mystery For Weeks In 2023
Jamie’s daughter Corinne Foxx made a statement on behalf of her father a day after report said he was rushed to the hospital.
“We wanted to share that my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday,” she said via Instagram. “Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers,” the statement read. “The family asks for privacy during this time.”
Foxx ended up being hospitalized for weeks. “He’s OK, thank God,” a source told PEOPLE in late April. “He’s still in the hospital and doctors are running tests but he’s awake and alert. They’re keeping him under observation.”
In May, another source told the publication that the medical emergency was no longer life-threatening, though the actor remained in hospital.
“[Doctors] are doing more tests and want to be completely sure that he will be okay before allowing him to [to leave the hospital,” the source said to PEOPLE, adding Foxx was advised he needs to “keep his stress level down.”

By mid-May, Foxx’s daughter confirmed he was out of the hospital and continuing to recover at home.
Jamie Still Won’t Reveal What Exactly Happened To Him
Though he’s since recovered, Foxx is still remaining silent on exactly what happened last year that put his pause on hold, but his co-star Cameron Diaz was quick to defend him after she questioned if she was upset that they had to pause filming, effectively putting her back in retirement.
“I really hate all of the things that were being said about our set at the time,” she said of the speculation. “You just want to scream at the top of your lungs, like, ‘What are you talking about?’”
“Jamie is the best. I love that guy so much. He’s such a special person and he’s so talented, so much fun,” Diaz continued, without revealing any information on what Foxx went through.
Needless to say, it appears both Jamie’s fans and co-stars alike are happy he’s returning to set, but there’s likely no one happier than the actor himself to get back to business.
