Britney Spears and her younger sister Jamie Lynn Spears have reportedly been estranged for some time, but Jamie Lynn couldn’t help but diss the pop star when revealing her most embarrassing moment featuring Britney.
During the most recent episode of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! Jamie Lynn recalled how sad Britney was when Christina Aguilera won the best new artist award at the Grammy’s in 2000. Jamie started off the story by asking,
“Want to hear about something really embarrassing that happened one time? It involves my sister. She was up for her first Grammy. It was her and Christina,” Jamie Lynn told cameras.
The Sweet Magnolias star said everyone in her family’s inner circle was convinced Britney would take home the award. “She worked her *** off. They had MTV camera crews at home watching our family, because it was like a no-brainer, she’s winning. And she’s there and she’s lost,” Jamie Lynn, who was around 7-years old at the time, recalled.
Jamie Lynn Insists She’s On Good Terms With Britney
Though Jamie Lynn wasn’t shy to share about Britney’s disappointed reaction, she defended her big sister, insisting that Britney, indeed, should’ve taken the award home. “Christina won it, and by the way remember she was wonderfully talented, but that year, I mean come on, let’s be honest, ‘It’s Britney, b****’ like always,” she added.
Britney Spears recently made waves across Hollywood when she released her memoir The Woman in Me in October, which called out many people, including family members. She’s been on tense terms with much of her family since being freed from her conservatorship in 2021.
But Jamie Lynn said she’s talked to Britney since the memoir dropped and all is well between them.
“I think every family fights and has their stuff. But I talked to her before I came here and we love each other,” Jamie Lynn said on the U.K. talk show.
Britney’s New Memoir Calls Out A Lot Of Famous People
Britney’s memoir doesn’t go into much detail about her relationship with her younger sister, but it does shed a lot of insight into her past relationship with Justin Timberlake, which lasted from 1999 to 2002.
In the book, Britney claims Justin pressured her into terminating an unwanted pregnancy. She also claims they both cheated on each other, saying Justin had an affair with another famous woman in the industry, though Britney leaves her unnamed.
Justin hasn’t publicly commented on Britney’s accusations, but he did make his first public appearance and was all smiles alongside his wife, Jessica Biel. While the long-time couple appear to be putting on a united front, reports say that Jessica is upset by Britney’s allegations and even wants her husband to apologize to his ex-girlfriend, though Justin appears resistant.
For now, Britney appears keen on releasing a second memoir, which she’s confirmed. Reports say the singer wants to discuss her ongoing divorce from Sam Asghari in a second book.
