Jason Bateman Once Went To School With Janet Jackson

Highlights

  • Jason Bateman’s unique childhood as a child actor led him to attend a private young professionals school in Los Angeles to accommodate his busy schedule.
  • During his time at this school, he had Janet Jackson as a classmate in sixth grade, but they haven’t seen each other since then.
  • After leaving the mall school, Jason attended a school that utilized a renovated school bus as a mobile classroom, allowing students to learn while on field trips in the city and the country.

Jason Bateman has made no secret of the fact that his childhood was far from normal, and the result of having such an atypical upbringing was the actor struggling with drug and alcohol abuse in his teenage years. Part of his early years brought several different educational settings. While many children grow up attending one or two schools in their formative years, this isn’t typically the case for kids who work as actors, as they have scattered schedules that need to be abided by for their film projects.

There were a few different schools that Jason Bateman was a student at in the area of Southern California, where his family lived, and he filmed the majority of his movies and shows. However, the differences between these schools and the typical educational establishments available to children are laughable, as the actor details in an interview with his friend Jimmy Kimmel.

Jason Bateman Went To A Private Young Professionals School

In the area of Los Angeles, there is a significant need for alternative educational opportunities to accommodate those who work in the entertainment industry as well as children who are young athletes.

As a child actor, Jason Bateman had a unique schedule requiring him to be on set many days out of the year. Therefore, he was enrolled in a private program that catered to young professionals and allowed him the freedom to come and go for his work projects.

During the time that Jason was enrolled at the San Fernando Valley Professional School, it was regarded as an extension of a home school program, and classes were held at a local mall.

The students would visit the vacant areas in the back of the shopping center on days they were available for class and complete homework independently or with the help of a tutor when they were on set.

Janet Jackson Was A Classmate Of Jason’s In Sixth Grade

Due to his childhood working as an actor, Jason Bateman’s network is extensive and includes many celebrities and fellow actors. During Jason’s sixth grade year, when he was a student at the San Fernando Valley Professional School, one of his classmates was none other than Janet Jackson.

Although the two were together frequently throughout their sixth-grade year, as their schedules overlapped, and they were in the classroom together, they had not had an opportunity to get together since then. In addition to the famous singer and actor, several young figure skaters attended classes between their practice sessions and competitions.

In other years, the school saw more notable celebrities come through their doors. After Jason and Janet’s time at the school, it was taken over by a new director and rebranded as the Brighton Hall School. With new technology that is available, students can attend their classes virtually or on the school’s campus (which is no longer located in a mall).

Throughout the years, Brighton Hall has seen the likes of Noah Cyrus, Blake Lively, Soleil Moon Frye, Sydney Sweeney, Jonathan Brandis, and Brittany Murphy, among many others.

The Actor Went To A Unique School The Next Year

Following his stint at the mall school, Jason Bateman was enrolled in a different school that had a unique setting. Depending on the day, the students would learn either in the city or the country. The primary classroom was at someone’s home outside of Los Angeles. However, most days saw field trips that would take them into the city.

Because of the heavy traffic in Southern California, the school administration purchased an old school bus and renovated it to resemble an on-the-road classroom. By removing the back half of the bus seats and installing desks, students could learn while on their way to and from their field trip locations.

With only a few students enrolled, there was plenty of space for each child to have their own desk and learning area.

Jason Bateman has shown throughout the years that he is an out-of-the-box thinker who also thrives on a strict regimen, and perhaps the educational approach of his childhood provided this insight and direction to him.

With a lack of routine and attending multiple different schools throughout the years, it would be understandable that as an adult, he would crave the stability he didn’t have in his youth.

There are many things that child actors don’t get to experience as typical children do, including the chance to wake up every day and go to school with a group of their peers. While many of them still receive an education, it’s unknown if the quality is the same and what the experience is like when it comes to building relationships with friends and classmates.

Something so ordinary for most of the younger population is lost on those who have to report to work on a set and earn an income.
