Jay-Z Reveals Beyonce Almost Named Daughter Blue Ivy Something Totally Different

Jay-Z Wanted To Name His Daughter After His Hometown

Speaking to CBS Mornings on Friday, October 27, the rapper said they originally planned to name Blue after the neighbourhood he grew up in New York. “It was supposed to be Brooklyn,” he revealed.

They eventually changed their mind when Jay developed a nickname for their baby-to-be are prenatal checkups. “We was calling her Blueberry. Like, ‘Look at the little blueberry,’” he continued. “You know, it was like a nickname. It just was natural.”

“We just took the ‘berry’ off of it and called her Blue,” Jay-Z added.

Blue may only be 11-years old, but she’s bee making waves recently by performing alongside her famous mom on her Renaissance tour. Blue has been showing off her dance skills on stage as part of the other performers. While the pre-teen’s dancing skills were initially criticized.

YouTube Tasha K posted a video reviewing Blue’s dance skills and noting what she needed to work on. “Everybody knows Blue Ivy was very stiff up there,” the online personality said. “Beyoncé just gon’ tell this girl that she got it.”

“I mean, it’s like you’re paying to see the iRobot vacuuming my floors,” Tasha added.

However, Blue has since been praised by fans for her improvement, with many folks noting that the pre-teen’s confidence also seems to have increased in the months she’s been performing with her famous mom.

It’s not just Beyonce’s tour that Blue has been a part of, but also her upcoming concert movie Renaissance: A Film By Beyonce.

The film will grace theaters worldwide on December 1. Prior to its global debut, the movie will have exclusive premieres in Los Angeles and London on November 25 and 30, respectively. The highly anticipated film will also be made available to audiences across continents, including Asia, Africa, Australia, South America, and Europe.

Beyonce has been vocally proud of how Blue has been doing on the tour. “My beautiful first born. I’m so proud and thankful to be your mama,” she captioned an Instagram post in May honoring her daughter. “You bring us so much joy, my sweet angel.”

The post was accompanied by a video showcasing Blue gracing the stage, donning silver sunglasses, a glimmering turtleneck, and loose-fitting silver pants—echoing her mother’s style. The video showed the 11-year-old flawlessly mastering dance moves, in perfect harmony with her backup dancers.

Blue wasn’t the only child of Jay-Z and Beyonce present at the performance. Sharp-eyed fans readily noticed Beyoncé’s other daughter, Rumi, among the enthusiastic crowd, cheering on her older sister. At one moment during the show, Rumi even raised a sign that expressed her affection.
