We’ve seen him face off against his local council on several occasions on Clarkson’s Farm, and now Jeremy Clarkson has revealed the run-ins were for a storyline on the Prime Video show.
The 63-year-old has been busy navigating life on the farm after purchasing the land in the Cotswolds, with viewers seeing every moment as cameras follow the Top Gear star.
His biggest run-ins on the series have been with his local council, as he’s had to get planning permission to expand his farm. Jeremy has been seen trying to extend the car park in the Diddly Squat farm shop as well as opening a restaurant on the land.
Now The Grand Tour star has spilled the beans on the show and has revealed the advice he was given prior to shooting the show. Writing in his The Sun column, he said he was told: “If you want a storyline for the next series, try getting planning permission for something.
“I was a bit puzzled and asked what he meant by ‘something’,” he continued. Jeremy then said he was told: “Anything. It doesn’t matter. Because I guarantee you’ll be turned down.”
After being given the advice from his farmer friend, Jeremy realised he was right and it would be an up-hill battle trying to get the council on-side.
He continued: “As my farming friend had predicted, the council went berserk and did everything in its power to stop me.
“And it wasn’t just the restaurant, either. They even turned their guns on my little farm shop, firing so many heavy salvoes that, even today, I’m not allowed to sell my own farming books in there.”
Earlier this month, Jeremy’s girlfriend Lisa Hogan, who stars on the show with him and helps run the farm, revealed production for series four has begun.
The 48-year-old took to her Instagram to share the exciting update with her 154,000 followers.
Lisa posted a clip of Jeremy sitting down in a chair, as she panned the camera to a room full of production members setting up cameras. She wrote over it: “Season 4. Full steam ahead,” as fans excitedly rushed to the comment section to share their elation over the news.
One viewer expressed: “Yes. So glad Prime put their tail between their legs and listened to the public. Can’t wait for season 3 and to go to Diddly Squat farm in April.”
Another fan said: “3rd season hasn’t aired yet, but I’m already looking forward to 4th season of one of the best TV shows EVER! Hopefully, we’ll be watching it from our new home in the countryside.” (sic)
