Jeremy Clarkson shared his heartache after he learned about the death of a 26-year-old horse owned by his partner Lisa Hogan.
The former Top Gear presenter, 63, admitted he couldn’t bear to see his other half so “upset” about the tragic news.
Writing in his latest column for The Times, Jeremy penned: “When Lisa’s horse died I was upset because I could see she was. And because I would have to deal with it.
“Picture the scenario. It’s dark, I’m getting ready to go to an agreeable shoot dinner and I get a call from a guy who helps with our animals to say Bertie was lying on his side, in a stream. Now I’m no vet, but immediately I realised that something was probably wrong.
“When I arrived on the scene the man from the hunt was already there and he’d already done the deed.”
Jeremy had to tow it up a muddy bank and place the animal in a horsebox.
“But at least with all this unpleasantness out of the way we won’t have to face it tomorrow,” he wrote, before continuing: “Which will free up some time for some other unpleasantness.”
Jeremy famously purchased his Oxfordshire farm after purchasing 1000 acres from what was formerly part of the Sarsden estate in 2008.
His efforts as a farmer are shown on the Prime Video series Clarkson’s Farm with the land now known as Diddly Squat Farm.
Lisa previously hinted at the new season, after the third neared the end of its production cycle.
A fan of the show asked: “Hopefully not the penultimate week of the penultimate season?”
Lisa simply replied: “Nope,” suggesting more episodes are set to come.
