The Jimmy Kimmel and Matt Damon feud doesn’t seem like it will die down anytime soon, and fans are here for it. With Jimmy Kimmel hosting the Academy Awards and Matt Damon attending for Oppenheimer, which won Best Picture, it was an opportunity that couldn’t be passed up.

It was greatly timed. They waited until the last few minutes of the ceremony, and then the camera panned to one of the evening’s darlings, Anatomy of a Fall star, Messi the Dog. And he was seemingly peeing on Matt Damon’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star.

Jimmy Kimmel hinted that he would be pulling something like this when he interviewed the cast of Oppenheimer a few weeks ago. Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, and Robert Downey Jr. were there, and he told them he would see them at the ceremony, right after taking several digs at Matt Damon.

Emily Blunt jokingly pointed out that Matt was in LA, to which Jimmy replied “did you notice he’s not here?” He also said that he gets a notice every time Matt Damon lands in Los Angeles, and answered that it would be a long time until they “see eye to eye” when Robert Downey Jr. asked if they were still not getting along.

Jimmy Kimmel and Matt Damon’s might be one of the longest standing “feuds” in the industry. It’s been going on for almost two decades, and they can’t really back out now. Not when fans are still finding it hilarious.

The mock feud started in 2005, when the host, for some reason, decided it would be fun to end his show by saying “Apologies to Matt Damon, but we ran out of time,” when Matt Damon was never actually meant to be on the show.

When Jimmy Kimmel isn’t hosting celebrities on his late-night talk show, he’s spending every chance he can with his family.

Far from being offended, the actor found the whole thing hilarious, and contributed to continuing one of the longest-running gags. Through the years, they involved many people in their jokes, the most important one probably being Sarah Silverman, who aided Matt Damon in many of his digs at Jimmy Kimmel.

Now, almost twenty years after the host randomly started the joke, they seem just as committed to the gag that keeps making people laugh.
