Jamie Foxx Denies The Sexual Assault Allegations
As reported by TMZ, an unnamed woman has filed a lawsuit against the actor for compensatory and punitive damages. She claims to have needed medical attention after an alleged assault involving Jamie at Catch NYC & Roof restaurant.
In court documents, the woman claims that Foxx began touching her inappropriately and without her consent after she requested a photo with him upon encountering him at the restaurant. She claims that despite multiple people observing his behavior, they failed to intervene.
The woman claims at one point Foxx shoved his hand down her pants and touched her private parts. The assault only happened when her friend returned to her side and stopped it, the lawsuit further alleges.
Jamie has responded to the lawsuit publicly via his representative. Not only did the rep deny the allegations, but they claimed the accuser tried to launch a similar lawsuit years ago, though they were unsuccessful.
“The alleged incident never happened. In 2020, this individual filed a nearly identical lawsuit in Brooklyn. That case was dismissed shortly thereafter,” they told Deadline. “The claims are no more viable today than they were then. We are confident they will be dismissed again. And once they are, Mr. Foxx intends to pursue a claim for malicious prosecution against this person and her attorneys for re-filing this frivolous action.”
The Assault Would’ve Happened When Jamie Was Dating Katie
The alleged incident apparently took place in 2015, which would’ve been the same year Jamie’s high profile relationship with Katie Holmes became public. The pair had already been dating for two years when their relationship was announced to the press (they were first rumored to be romantically involved in 2013).
After six years together, Jamie and Katie allegedly broke up in 2019. Notoriously private, neither actors have given a public reason for their split.
“It’s tough out there. I am getting older but people think I am younger,” Jamie previously said about dating while getting older in 2017. “I was at a club the other night and a group of girls shouted my name. I was like, ‘Hey, what’s up?’ and they said, ‘We go to school with your daughter!’ You have to be so careful.”
Reports have suggested that that pair drifted apart and got caught up with their separate lives (they both have kids from previous relationships). They “just both [got] caught up with their own families, careers and obligations that their relationship had to take a back seat,” one source said.
Jamie has been linked to many women in the years since his split with Katie, including Sela Vave, Dana Caprio, and Kate Beckinsale, none of whom have commented on the recent allegations plaguing the actor.
