According to reports, a follow-up investigation has been launched by BBC as new accusations about his behavior have come to light. The network declined to explain the new allegations but denied they’re of a sexual nature.
Russell Brand Keeps Being Hit By New Allegations
Russell’s offensive behavior allegedly occurred when he was hosting BBC radio shows between 2006 and 2008. The BBC’s follow-up investigation comes after multiple police investigations were launched into the actor after several women claimed he sexually assaulted them in an expose published in September.
The Times published an article on September 16 filled with accusations. One woman, who came forward as Alice, says Russell sexually and emotionally abused her during their 2006 relationship, when she was 16 but he was 30.
Another woman, Nadia, says the comedian assaulted her at her LA home in 2012. There was also a third woman mentioned in the piece, Phoebe, who says she was employed by Russell, who then assaulted her at his home in 2013.
Russell Brand Is Facing Two Police Investigations
In October, it was reported that British police had launched two separate investigations into Russell. A statement released by authorities seemed to imply that Russell may be facing additional charges not mentioned in the Times article.
“Following an investigation by Channel 4’s Dispatches and The Sunday Times, the Met has received a number of allegations of sexual offences in London,” London’s Metropolitan Police said in its statement. “We have also received a number of allegations of sexual offences committed elsewhere in the country and will investigate these. The offences are all non-recent.”
The authorities ended their statement by encouraging anyone else with something to report on Russell Brand to come forward – and others publicly have. One woman from Thames more recently accused the actor of stalking her in 2018.
“Thames Valley police in the past two weeks received new information in relation to the harassment and stalking allegations dating back to 2018,” Thames police said in a statement, confirming they launched a second investigation into Russell. “This information is being investigated. As such, it would be inappropriate to comment on an ongoing investigation.”
Russell has denied the allegations but appears to be laying low in the wake of the controversy. One person who’s also staying relatively silent is his ex, Katy Perry, who hasn’t offered her opinion on the situation, despite a tumultuous marriage that lasted from 2010 to 2012 (Katy hasn’t had kind things to say about Russell since then).
The pop star seems completely moved on from her past marriage to Brand. Katy just closed her Las Vegas residency, where she gave a sweet shout-out to her fiancé and their daughter, Daisy Dove, 2, admitting her life and perspective were completely changed through motherhood.
