The hunt, however, was cut short on July 24, 2023, when the lifeless body of Lynn was discovered. The news of her murder echoed across the little town, leaving residents and friends in despair over the loss of a loved one.

Following the shocking finding, the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit took up the investigation to learn more about Oberly’s death. They sought cooperation from the local community as part of their investigation while continuing their investigation.
Kenneth Skelly, 43, of Beaumont, was charged with second-degree murder in connection with this terrible case.
