The 2008 film Forgetting Sarah Marshall is a favorite among romantic comedy lovers. The movie stars Jason Segel, Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, and Russell Brand. Other stars in the film include Paul Rudd, Jonah Hill, and Bill Hader.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall tells the story of Peter Bretter, played by Segel, as he attempts to move on from his ex-girlfriend Sarah Marshall, played by Bell. They both end up on an exotic vacation, Marshall to start her new relationship, and Bretter to get over the relationship.
One of the funniest pairings in the film is Bell and Brand. The two play celebrities and new lovers, and their interactions are nothing short of hilarious. They certainly had amazing chemistry while filming, and it is not surprising that Bell praised the work they did together considering the final result.
Kristen Bell and Russell Brand revealed how they came up with the famous sex montage during an interview promoting the movie.
“We came up with those ourselves,” Bell said in reference to the ridiculous positions. “We were shoved into a room about a week after knowing each other and were told to use our yoga expertise, and we came up with 15 of the most awkward sexual positions possible.”
“They did shove us as well,” Brand agreed with his co-star. “We didn’t want to go in that room! All we had to entertain us was positions. Luckily our chemistry was good so we came up with some very elaborate whilst troubling for the back.”
Why Kristen Bell Threatened Russell Brand
Through Kristen Bell thought kindly of Russell Brand while filming Forgetting Sarah Marshall, that does not mean everything between them was completely perfect. The two stars were forced into some very intimate situations while filming, and what when on between Kristen Bell and Russell Brand made Bell feel the need to stand up for herself.
Bell revealed during the press tour for the film that she actually threatened Brand.
“He didn’t try to mess with me or get in my pants. He knew I would lop his n**s off,” Bell said in one interview.
Bell brought up the situation many times throughout the press tour, later adding, “I made it really clear from the beginning that I would sock him in the b***s if he tried anything. So he was intimidated.”
Despite the threats, Kristen Bell has said that she loved working with Russell Brand in Forgetting Sarah Marshall. She stated in several interviews that it was a fun shoot due to Brand and even has praised his dedication to the role. Other than the threats, it seems they had a great working relationship.
It is therefore unclear if Bell was only joking and making light of his reputation for being a womanizer, or if she felt unsafe.
Brand was certainly known for getting around, and Bell always could have just been setting the record straight with him that nothing would happen between them.

Russell Brand Accused Of Sexual Assault
Russell Brand has always been considered a womanizer, and not many consider him to be an upstanding guy. He made headlines when he famously divorced singer Katy Perry over text. The two had gotten engaged after only four months of dating, and many fans did not see the relationship lasting very long, but a text break-up is still too cruel.
Brand is also known to have been a drug addict and has been in recovery and sober since 2003.
Despite his reputations, fans previously did not believe Brand to be a particularly bad guy. That all changed in September 2023 when women began to step forward accusing Russell Brand of rape, sexual assault, and emotional abuse.
Brand has been accused by several women, all stating the abuse occurred in the early 2000s. The Times and Channel 4 News have been investigating the allegations and published the story on September 16th, 2023.
One woman is accusing Russell Brand of sexually assaulting her during a three-month relationship they had. She claims to only have been 16 years old at the time of the assault and relationship. It has also been claimed that Brand used his BBC company car to pick her up from school for their interactions.
Channel 4 News has removed all Brand related content from their website, including several episodes of The Great British Bake Off. Netflix has been asked to remove his comedy special, as well.
Currently, Brand is completely denying these allegations. The investigation into the accusations is still ongoing, particularly with the woman who claims to have been a minor at the time of her assault. BBC is also facing questions due to the potential use of their property to commit these crimes.
