Lady Gaga Helped The Rolling Stones Close Their New York Show

In front of the crowd of more than 600 audience members, Mick said they wouldn’t only be playing samples from their new album. “We’re gonna play some old, and we’re gonna play some new,” he said of what to expect.

Mick didn’t mention until the end of the set that they had a very special guest lined up to help close their show – Lady Gaga – who’s also featured on the new record.

Wearing a low-cut, sparkly jumpsuit with a rocker hairstyle, Gaga wooed the stage with The Rolling Stones as she helped conclude the show. She was later seen leaving the venue with a black coat draped over her rocker chick outfit.

The Rolling Stone’s new music isn’t only impressive because it’ their first album since 2005’s A Bigger Bang, but also when considering the health problems lead singer Mick Jagger, 80, has faced in recent years. In 2019, it was revealed the then-75-year old singer had to undergo a heart valve replacement. At the time, The Rolling Stones had to postpone their North American tour in light of Mick’s need for surgery.

The announcement was made in April of 2019, but the band’s representatives said Mick was expected to be out of the hospital within days and back on stage by the summer.

It was reported that surgeons used some of the most advanced technology on the market to perform the relatively new procedure. Previously, someone in Jagger’s position may have needed to have open heart surgery. By comparison, the heart valve replacement is significantly less invasive, which can offer a faster and easier recovery.

“One of the most remarkable achievements, really, of the 20th century is the fact that we’re able to operate on people’s heart valves,” Dr. Ashish Shah told CNN of Jagger’s procedure (As of 2019, Shah was the chairman of cardiac surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center). Dr. Shah emphasized that the recovery is often straightforward with this type of procedure. “If you don’t have any other medical problems, your life expectancy comes back almost to normal,” he explained.

Mick was back to touring within a few months, and as shown by the band’s new album ad recent performance, he appears to be doing better than ever health-wise.

For now, The Rolling Stones haven’t confirmed if they’re going to embark on a world tour to promote their newest release.
