During her sit-down wit David Letterman, Vonn spoke about her relationship with Woods and their mutual love of sports. Vonn even took a subtle shot at Woods during their chat.
This isn’t something new to the Letterman audience. Madonna took shots at Letterman himself in 1994 and was much less subtle about it. Lady Gaga even tore up Letterman’s notes during her 2011 appearance, because she was annoyed with his line of questioning.
Lindsey Vonn Told Letterman That Tiger Woods Wasn’t As Good At Skiing As Her
In October 2013, Lindsey Vonn appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman. During her chat with the legendary late night host, Vonn was asked about her relationship with Tiger Woods.
The two first met at an event in 2012, the same year Vonn divorced fellow skier Thomas Vonn. Woods divorced Elin Nordegren two years prior after his cheating scandal dominated media headlines. Vonn and Woods confirmed their relationship via Facebook in March 2013.
“You had been friends . . . where did the friendship come from?” Letterman asked.
Vonn told Letterman that it was their shared love of athletics that drew the pair together.
“We’re athletes, so I guess we have something in common there,” Vonn responded. “We met at his charity event in Vegas, Tiger Jam, and, yeah, we were friends for a long time. I don’t know, we just kind of relate really well to one another.”
Vonn told Letterman that she and Woods play each other’s respective sports on occasion. She even said there was some healthy competition between the two of them.
“I have a hole-in-one . . . pretty proud of that. My first round of 18 holes I got a hole-in-one,” Vonn said. “It didn’t bounce off a tree or anything and go into the hole . . . it was pretty legitimate.”
“Are you telling the truth?” Letterman asked. “Do you really have a hole-in-one?”
“I’m honest,” Vonn said. “Always.”

Her appearance caused another wave of backlash in the press. In an interview with Rosie O’Donnell, the comedian said that she was told by Madonna that the producers encouraged her to swear during the interview. Madonna herself said in an MTV interview that it was “a performance” and said the exchange “wasn’t a real argument.”
Madonna later said that her appearance was the result of her anger over how the public was treating her at the time. She also told Howard Stern in 2015 that she was dating Tupac Shakur at the time, who got her “all riled up about life in general.”

As part of her promotional tour for the “Born This Way” album, Lady Gaga made several appearances during the week of its release. One of those appearances was on the Late Show with David Letterman.
Gaga seemed determined to follow her over-the-top tradition, coming out in an outfit that, by that point, most people were used to. Letterman, however, still wasn’t used to it.
“You have a mask on. Does this represent something or we don’t care what this represents?” he asked.
“I’m Batman,” Gaga quipped. “What are you wearing, I mean, what aren’t you wearing, I mean it’s great, don’t get me wrong,” Letterman stammered. Gaga said she just liked the jacket and decided not to wear the pants.
“You and I are very different in that way,” Letterman responded. “I have never thought to myself, ‘I’m just going to wear my underpants.’”
“Why not, I’m sure you’d look nice,” Gaga said as she took off her mask. “You’d be surprised.”
“Yes, I’d be very surprised … and you’d be surprised also … and so would the local authorities,” Letterman said.
Lady Gaga Wasn’t Happy With David Letterman’s Questions And Shocked The Host With Her Reaction
Lady Gaga made an infamous appearance on David Letterman’s show which shocked even the host himself.
When Letterman asked Gaga about her entrance to the Grammys in an egg vessel, she said, “Maybe we could get in [the egg] together. You could be the yolk.” Letterman then read off a list of rumors and asked Gaga whether they were true or not. When he asked her if she ate the head of a Barbie doll on stage, she said it was true. When Letterman protested her answer, Gaga tore up his notes and put them in her mouth.
“I’m just so fed up with all of it,” Gaga said. Letterman pleaded with Gaga to spit them out, saying, “You won’t be out of the egg for months!” After chewing the paper for a bit, Gaga spit it out behind her chair.
