Loose Women star Linda Robson once “necked” a bottle of alcohol and was “wrestled off” by security guards in M&S following a stint in rehab. The 65-year-old

wound up in the Priory three times after suffering from alcoholism.

This forced her to come off air with ITV for two years while she recovered. Thankfully she was able to turn her life around and recently celebrated four years of sobriety.

In an interview with OK! she detailed her turbulent relationship with booze and admitted how it contributed to her mental health. Recalling her time in the facility, she said: “This lovely nurse took me for a walk and I went into M&S at Marylebone station.”

Due to her possessions being taken from her, she admitted that she had no way of paying for anything. Linda continued: “I had no money, but I asked for a bottle of rum, necked it right there and then, and the security guard was wrestling it off me.”

She went on to say that she was in crisis with her mental health before admitting: “I was in a bad way. I was on suicide watch.”

Linda’s world came crashing down when she attemepted to stop drinking wine and ended up taking regular sleeping tablets, but “wasn’t functioning”.

The star went on to recognise that her mental health affected her family – including her daughters and grandchildren.

She said: “I felt so bad for what I’d done to everyone who loved me.”

“My family would come and visit me on Sundays – instead of us all at home having a roast together. It was the worst time of my life, ever.”

They have all reunited and even celebrated her success earlier this month having a family meal.

Despite her dark days she has made it to the other side and is now a regular on the popular female chat show.

Last week she sat alongside the likes of Frankie Bridge and Christine Lampard. She credited her co-stars for getting her through it as they were a pillar in her road to recovery.

Linda confessed Stacey Solomon would sweetly ring her up and check in as well as the likes of Jane Moore and Nadia Sawalha.

In her new book Truth Be Told: Tales From A Baggy Mouth she opens up on fascinating stories about her life and career.

She has laid it bare from the ups and downs as well as the presenter’s break up with her ex-husband.

Revisiting those times for her book sometimes proved too much as she confessed: “Recording the audiobook was especially hard, I just couldn’t stop crying.”
