Louise Redknapp has hinted at “going through a lot” and experiencing a “really strange time in her life” following her split from ex-husband Jamie Redknapp in 2017.
The former couple confirmed they had separated in September of that year, before being granted a divorce three months later. While appearing on her 9 to 5 co-star Amber Davies’ podcast Your 5 Minute Call, the Strictly Come Dancing star spoke about bagging the West End gig and alluded to her split with Jamie.
She expressed: “For me, going into 9 to 5 was huge, it really took me a while to get it, I was by no means good. It was a really strange time in my life, there was a huge script and a huge track to learn and though playing Sally Bowles in Cabaret was a big part, there wasn’t that much to do.”
The mum-of-two went on to reveal that she doubted herself on whether she could do the gig or not and admitted she was going through a lot in her life.
She continued: “I’m not ashamed to say it, it took me a while to get it under my belt and I was really put through my paces and there were days I thought, ‘I can’t do this, I don’t think I can do it.’
“But I had a great team around me, I had people that were there constantly going, ‘You’ve got this, you’ve got this’.
“I think also I was going through a lot at the time, it doesn’t always lend itself to being able to learn a massive script and put yourself out there.”
Louise, 49, and Jamie, 50, share two children together, sons Charley, 19, and Beau, 14.
The former footballer went on to marry Swedish model Frida Andersson in October 2021.
Just a month after tying the knot, the newlyweds welcomed their first child together, a son called Raphael Anders Redknapp. The Eternal singer has also moved on and is dating boyfriend Drew Michael after going Instagram official back in November 2023.
The television personality is reportedly “madly in love” with her beau and is said to not be ruling out a second marriage.
A source told Closer magazine: “Louise is madly in love and is already talking to pals about settling down again – admitting that while she initially swore-off getting married again, Drew has turned that all on its head.”
