Morning Live presenter Michelle Ackerley has received support from her BBC co-stars after sharing a touching tribute to her late dad on the sixth anniversary of his death.

The Crime Watch host bravely opened up about her grief on Instagram with a sweet throwback photo and a message for her 16,800 followers. She wrote: “Six years ago today my dad passed away.

“I spent last night scrolling through so many old photos and reflecting on special memories over the years. Grief is a process that certainly hits you in different ways at different times of your life.”

She then added: “I’m thinking of anyone on their own journey with grief today.” Michelle also chose a happy memory to share, explaining: “I’ve posted this photo as it makes me smile.

“I vividly remember this day as a kid. My brother and I having a massive water fight with our dad.

“Me thinking I’d protect my afro by wearing a shower cap and helmet,” she added with laughing emojis.

Michelle’s Morning Live pals were quick to send supportive messages, with Gaby Roslin commenting: “Sending you the biggest hugs and big love too my lovely.”

“Big love,” Sam Quek added, while Isla Traquair shared: “What a wonderful photo and happy memory. Sending you love.”

Television producer Naomi Channell penned: “I can only imagine how proud he was of you Michelle; sending you lots of love.”

“Just lovely Mich x,” her Morning Live co-host Gethin Jones wrote, as Jean Johansson added: “Precious memories.”

BBC Morning Live will return on Monday, April 8 at 9.30am on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
