Neve Campbell Has A Long History Of Health Issues That Have Persisted Throughout Her Career

Highlights

  • Neve Campbell’s back injury from filming Skyscraper led to spine surgery and a cage in her spine.
  • Campbell has dealt with various health problems throughout her career, including dance-related injuries.
  • Campbell faced a bear trying to attack her on a movie set, but fortunately, she didn’t get seriously hurt.

After being paid millions of dollars to star in Scream, Neve Campbell quickly became one of the wealthiest stars of the horror franchise. That’s why it was so shocking when Campbell didn’t join the cast of Scream VI because she wasn’t paid what she felt that she should be. Horror fans will never fully accept the ultimate final girl not appearing in more films in the franchise.

Of course, Scream is just a small part of Neve Campbell’s lengthy and amazing acting career. After playing the headstrong and smart Julia Salinger on the ’90s teen drama Party of Five, Campbell has starred in every type of movie ranging from a ballet story to an action flick. The actress has also dealt with various health problems during her career.

Neve Campbell Needed Surgery On Her Spine When She Was Done Filming Skyscraper

In an interview with Good Morning America, Neve Campbell talked about getting surgery because of an injury that was aggravated when she starred in Skyscraper. The actress explained that while playing Sarah Sawyer, she spent a lot of time holding the character’s son Henry, played by Noah Cottrell.

The actress said:

“I had spine surgery, I have a cage in my spine now, I’m, like, the bionic woman. I had to carry Noah, the adorable little boy (in the movie), he’s little, but he’s, like, 65 pounds. I was a dancer, so my back was already a little compromised, but that was, like, the straw that broke the camel’s back.”

Since Neve Campbell has a dance background, her back was hurt from years of training, and things got worse when she filmed Skyscraper.

Neve Campbell Survived A Bear Trying To Attack Her While Filming An Unknown Movie

Just one injury on a movie set would be enough… but Neve Campbell went through another painful experience while working. As it turns out, Campbell once faced a bear trying to attack her. While anyone who goes camping regularly might be prepared for a bear hanging out nearby, most actors don’t expect this to happen on a movie set.

Neve Campbell choosing against an appearance in Scream VI is a major blow to the franchise.

While Campbell didn’t share the name of the movie that she was shooting when this happened, she did say that she was 17 years old. She sounded fairly calm while describing this memory, which proves that she is an impressive and accomplished actress who can get through anything.

Neve Campbell always looked strong and capable while playing Sidney Prescott in five Scream movies. When she was interviewed by Vulture about starring in Scream 4, which was released in 2011, Campbell shared that she was dealing with a foot injury.

Did Wild Things Ruin Neve Campbell’s Career?

Neve Campbell “drank” while filming that “awkward” scene on Wild Things.

Campbell answered a question about whether she had to prepare for her Scream 4 role in a physical sense. She said that the character “needs to be more subtle” than the others as fans relate to her journey. While other actors follow intense exercise and diet programs before shooting a movie that involves a lot of action or fight scenes, it doesn’t sound like Campbell’s was quite that bad.

However, she did some training, and her Scream 4 shoot was a bit complicated by her foot injury. But it sounds like, as usual, she didn’t let her injury get her down and continued filming the fourth film in this popular horror franchise.

Campbell said:

“physically I had to train for months beforehand, and then right before we shot, I hurt my foot. So I did the film with an injured foot, which was a drag. But it was okay.”
