Neve Campbell Needed Surgery On Her Spine When She Was Done Filming Skyscraper

In an interview with Good Morning America, Neve Campbell talked about getting surgery because of an injury that was aggravated when she starred in Skyscraper. The actress explained that while playing Sarah Sawyer, she spent a lot of time holding the character’s son Henry, played by Noah Cottrell.

The actress said:

“I had spine surgery, I have a cage in my spine now, I’m, like, the bionic woman. I had to carry Noah, the adorable little boy (in the movie), he’s little, but he’s, like, 65 pounds. I was a dancer, so my back was already a little compromised, but that was, like, the straw that broke the camel’s back.”

Since Neve Campbell has a dance background, her back was hurt from years of training, and things got worse when she filmed Skyscraper.

According to The Canadian Press, Neve Campbell was a ballet dancer when she was younger, and she was a student at the National Ballet School in Canada. In an interview with People, Campbell talked about her love of dance and said that she was interested as a six-year-old after seeing The Nutcracker. Campbell said she can be “sane” in the acting industry due to the lessons she took from her dance training. She told People, “All of the discipline that I have, I take from dance.”

Just one injury on a movie set would be enough… but Neve Campbell went through another painful experience while working. As it turns out, Campbell once faced a bear trying to attack her. While anyone who goes camping regularly might be prepared for a bear hanging out nearby, most actors don’t expect this to happen on a movie set.

In 2022, Neve Campbell was interviewed on The Kelly Clarkson Show and she shared a terrifying story about shooting a movie that involved her acting alongside a bear. She explained that she was told to give the bear Coke, put honey on her hand, and run away. Unfortunately, the bear didn’t cooperate, and she ended up in a scary situation.

According to Variety, Campbell said:

“He grabs me by the leg and he pulls me through the forest. My mother was visiting set and she’s screaming. The whole crew is frozen because nobody can believe what’s happening. All I can think to say is, ‘He’s biting me,’ like it’s not obvious.”

As Variety noted, the actress didn’t get seriously hurt, and she didn’t end up in the hospital or have a lengthy recovery time afterward. However, it still must have been awful to go through this experience.

While Campbell didn’t share the name of the movie that she was shooting when this happened, she did say that she was 17 years old. She sounded fairly calm while describing this memory, which proves that she is an impressive and accomplished actress who can get through anything.
