Being in the celebrity spotlight means rubbing elbows with other big names that might rub you the wrong way. Whether it’s a beef between two rappers, actors and directors being at odds, or a mixed bag that no one saw coming, any star can end up feuding with another when people least expect it.

Dancing with the Stars has had its share of bad pairings, and though they were good together on the surface, behind the scenes, Cheryl Burke had some issues with former 90210 star, Ian Ziering. In fact, Burke took public shots at Ian, causing the masses to suffer from a quick case of whiplash.

Let’s take a look at the duo, how they were able to perform on the show, and how Burke took shots at Ian before going both public and private with an apology for him.

Cheryl Burke And Ian Ziering Crossed Paths On Dancing With The Stars

Dancing with the Stars, the iconic dance competition series, has witnessed its fair share of celebrity partnerships that left audiences in awe. One such unforgettable pairing was the dynamic duo of professional dancer Cheryl Burke and actor Ian Ziering during the fourth season of the show.

Cheryl Burke, a seasoned pro on Dancing with the Stars, was already a two-time champion when she was paired with actor Ian Ziering for the show’s fourth season in 2007. Ian Ziering, on the other hand, was primarily known for his role as Steve Sanders in the hit ’90s TV series Beverly Hills, 90210.

Cheryl and Ian’s partnership on the show proved to be a surprising and delightful combination. Week after week, they worked tirelessly to perfect their performances, impressing both the judges and the audience.

As the season progressed, Cheryl and Ian continued to improve their skills and consistently received positive feedback from the judging panel. Their ability to tell a story through dance was particularly commendable. The pair tackled a wide range of dance styles, from the samba to the waltz, and they adapted to each one with grace and enthusiasm.

They didn’t win it all, but the pair made some good things happen on the dance floor. Things seemed to be going well enough, but Burke eventually hurled some words at Ian, catching people by surprise.

Following their time on the show, Burke said, “That’s the true colors that they didn’t show on Dancing With The Stars … Think of spending time with that for, like, eight to 10 hours a day, seven days a week, for three months.”

Burke then dropped a bomb.

“It made me want to slit my wrists. I was, like, crying to the executives. I was like, “Is there any way to please just eliminate us?” They’re like, “We can’t. We can’t do that.” And I swear, every time I asked, we just kept going. We would last till the end,” she continued.

This was not the only thing that she said about Ian.

“The fact that his name’s not [pronounced] ‘EEE-an’ and it’s ‘EYE-an’ makes me want to throw up,” she added.

Fans and the media were taken aback by Burke’s words. Sure, there have bene previous pairings that have had some unkind tings to say about one another, but overall, this came out of nowhere.

Eventually, Burke apologized.

“I sent him an email, like, a couple of years ago when I did a YouTube — I think it was during, like, right after the [coronavirus] pandemic or toward the end of it,” Burke said.

She then added that there were “no hard feelings.”

“I just wanted to publicly apologize. But before I publicly apologized, I wanted to just to do it personally,” she continued.

Burke also took to social media to reveal how sorry she was, not only for taking a shot at Ian, but for making light of such a serious matter.

“I’ve always lived by the rule that if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. Recently and regrettably, I broke that rule. In the heat of an interview conversation, I used a phrase that seemingly makes light of suicide and I deeply regret it. I have many friends and family members that struggle with depression and thoughts of suicide. To have said something that seemingly makes a mockery of what they’ve gone through and what they live with is something that I apologize for. I never meant to hurt anyone or to trivialize the topic. I was out of line and for that I apologize,” she wrote.

Everything seems decent enough between both sides. This seemingly one-sided beef just goes to show how quickly something can escalate when one star takes a shot at another.
