Peter Andre has sent his best wishes to King Charles following the news he is battling cancer. The 50-year-old singer admitted that he felt for his eldest son Prince William, as he will now have to take on more responsibilities.
After sending shock waves across the globe, Buckingham Palace announced that the King, 75, had been diagnosed with a form of cancer earlier this month. Peter praised the monarch for talking about his health as it has urged many people around the world to talk more openly about dealing with the disease.
He was hopeful that it would get the nation talking and raise awareness for lots of different cancers. In his column with OK! he expressed his concerns that that the Prince of Wales, 41, has “got his work cut out for him” now.
It has been reported that William will now have to step up his duties in the wake of his father’s absence. It has not been stated what cancer Charles is suffering from or established how much he will be able to do.
The dad of four lost his own brother in 2012 to the disease. 10 months after he was diagnosed, Andrew Andre died aged 54 from kidney cancer.
He wrote: “The story that many royal fans are talking about at the moment is King Charles’s health after he released a statement saying he has cancer.
“Cancer is such a scary thing and it affects so many people. I think it is admirable that the King is talking about it as it shows we’re all human.
“He’s also raising awareness – thousands of men reportedly decided to get their prostate checked after he spoke about it publicly.”
He continued: “The royal family has been having a hard time with health matters, including Kate’s abdominal surgery and Sarah Ferguson’s skin cancer diagnosis, so we wish them all a speedy recovery.”
Before adding: “I think it’s safe to say William’s got his work cut out for him now.”
Pete touched on the loss of Andrew, while describing it as one of the most challenging periods of his life.
He opened up about his immense regret about never making things fit over the festive period.
In light of his brother’s illness, he stepped up and moved him into his Surrey home.
Andrew was then able to receive specialised treatment at the Royal Marsden Hospital in Chelsea, West London.
He said: “If I could turn back time my wish would be to spend another Christmas with him.
“We were never able to spend Christmas together as we were never in the same country at the same time.
“The only year we did was the year Andrew sadly died. He’s always in my thoughts but especially at this time of year.”
