Phil Collins fans have hit out at his ex-wife Orianne Cevey for sending a birthday message to the Genesis star. The legendary musician turned 73 on Tuesday, January 30, and his 49-year-old ex, with whom he shares sons Nicholas, 22, and Matthew, 18, wished him happy birthday on social media.
She wrote on Instagram, where she has 85.6k followers, this week alongside a snap of herself with Phil: “Happy birthday to @officialphilcollins this living legend!
“And the best father for my sons @nic_collins and @mcollins0112 with all my best wishes of love, health and happiness. Always, OC xxxx.”
However, fans were left furious by the gushing tribute as Orianne’s split from the superstar in 2008 after nine years of marriage was bitter.
She had reportedly refused to leave his Miami mansion with her new husband, Thomas Bates, 34, and late last year said she was auctioning off $4m worth of items he had previously gifted her after home foreclosure.
Replying in her comments section one wrote: “Are you effin kidding me?” Another said: “You have a lot to make up for how you used this legend of a human after your destruction of his soul because of your shame of a recent marriage. I believe in forgiveness but it has to be earned.”
A third asked: “Why did you leave him then?” To which another person replied: “Very poor form”.
Orianne was married to the Genesis legend from 1999-2008, having met when she worked as his translator in Switzerland, but after the divorce – which she received £25 million for, the largest ever settlement in a British celebrity divorce – they had reconciled.
But when Phil was on tour in 2020, Orianne secretly married Tom in Vegas and shocked the singer by moving him into their £30 million home.
She reportedly hired security guards to keep Phil from entering his own home. According to the Daily Mail, Tom previously advertised himself as a “sexy intellectual” on the escort website Cowboys 4 Angels.
Last year she also announced that will auction off an estimated $4 million (£3.2 million) of the singer’s possessions.
Page Six revealed that prized possessions, including jewellery, purses and valuable music items will be auctioned off by the Miami-based Kodner Auction Gallery.
“It pains me to part with these cherished items, but I recently downsized homes and simply do not have room for many of the items,” Cevey tells Page Six.
“These are some of our most prized family possessions,” she said
Before meeting Orianne, Phil had been married twice before – first to Andrea Bertorelli in 1980 and then to Jill Tavelman in 1996.
