Phillip Schofield’s wife has continued to be a pillar of support for him following his recent scandal.
The former This Morning presenter admitted to an “unwise but not illegal” affair with a younger male colleague last year but the 61-year-old said he would not have pulled through the scandal if it was not for the support of his loved ones.
Stephanie Lowe stood by her husband during and after the scandal and he ultimately stepped down from his role as co-host of This Morning with Holly Willoughby.
Following reports he has signed a non-disclosure agreement about the affair, a source at OK! magazine claimed that Stephanie continues to be his “tower of strength”, and would never abandon him.
They told the publication: “Despite everything, Steph has been the solid support by Phillip’s side.
“He calls her ‘his rock’. She’s been his tower of strength, and continues to be now. Divorce is the last thing she’d want to put him through.”
When the news broke, Phillip confessed that his wife of 31 years was “very, very angry” with him over the affair.
Stephanie, who shares two daughters with the presenter, had believed his dismissals of rumours and was said to be “devastated” when she was told. But despite the scandal, the pair are said to have a “lot of love” for one another.
At the time Phillip thanked his daughters for being his support, saying: “I am in a very bad way. Mentally, utterly, utterly broken. And if it hadn’t been for my girls last week, I wouldn’t be here.”
Stephanie and Phil met while both working at the BBC, when he was working on children’s television and she as a production assistant. The couple got married at Scotland’s Ackergill Tower in 1993 and celebrated their silver wedding anniversary in 2018.
The This Morning host and his wife appeared in a TV series in 2017 called Schofield’s South African Adventure, where the couple explored South Africa, sampling local culture.
She also appeared on Phillip’s show How To Spend Well At Christmas, where the pair test out products that could make fantastic Christmas gifts right from their Oxfordshire home.
