Piers Morgan took to Twitter to suggest that the Princess of Wales has been extraordinarily open – more so than other royals – as he praised the “candid” video statement she released this evening. The TalkTV host had shared his admiration for the 42-year-old senior royal on his Uncensored show.
“She made a very personal statement in which she was very open, very frank, very courageous and very dignified, I thought,” Piers encouraged. “She also paid great tribute to her husband Prince William, who, let’s not forget, is also going through the double health heartache of his father, King Charles III, also having cancer.”
He then turned the spotlight onto TalkTV’s Royal Editor, Sarah Hewson, who shed some light on what the royals have been going through in the last few “incredibly tough months”. She referred sympathetically to the “huge shock” that Kate’s diagnosis caused her.
Piers also explained during the video footage that Kate had not been able to embark on chemotherapy until she had recovered from her initial abdominal surgery. However, she is now known to be receiving treatment and is feeling optimistic as she starts her journey on the road to recovery.
In the video, Kate explained: “In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous. The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present.
“My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.”
“It has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be ok,” she added.
