Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made a return to Canada after the Sussexes were spotted in Vancouver, Canada.

The couple were attending an ice hockey game between the Vancouver Canucks and the San Jose Sharks with Prince Harry, 39, asked to do the honours.

The royal was seen taking to the ice as he waved to the enthusiastic crowds and stood on a black carpet, which had been rolled out for him for the occasion.

He then dropped the puck in a ceremonial stand-off between players Quinn Hughes of the Vancouver Canucks and Tomas Hertl #48 of the San Jose Sharks shortly before their game at Rogers Arena.

The royal also shook hands with both of the players as she wished them well before the match kicked off.

Prince Harry kept it casual with a pair of blue jeans and a navy crew neck jumper with a white shirt underneath.

He paired this with a matching navy coat to keep off the chill of the rink and opted for light grey-blue shoes.

Royal fans will notice the images are similar to Queen Elizabeth II’s own ceremonial drop of the puck back in 2002.

The late Queen was also given the honour at a previous Vancouver Canucks and San Jose Sharks game 22 years ago.

The monarch had bent down to drop the puck between players and team captains Markus Naslund of the Vancouver Canucks and Mike Ricci of the San Jose Sharks at a pre-season hockey game.

Also, in attendance at the Queen’s puck drop were Canadian hockey great Wayne Gretzky and Canadian Women’s Olympic Winter Games gold medalist and hockey team captain Cassie Campbell.

The Queen stood on the red carpet as she let the puck fall on the ice and saw the game start.

Meghan, 42, was spotted in the stands as she proudly watched her husband on the ice.

Speaking to Variety at the event, Meghan addressed the enduring appeal of her legal drama Suits: “It was great to work on, such a great cast and crew. We had a really fun time.

I was on it for seven seasons, so quite a bit.

“But it’s hard to find a show you can binge-watch that many episodes of these days, so that could have something to do with it. But good shows are everlasting.”

She went to say of her new projects how she wanted to produce things which made “people feel” and build a sense of “community”.
