Brian May has left his fans in a frenzy after sharing a gym selfie before a live performance. The 76-year-old guitarist showed his age-defying appearance as he took a mirror selfie of himself working out.

The Queen band member sported black shorts and a black shirt as he sat on an E-bike inside a gym. He added the caption: “SHOW DAY!!! Start the day right!!! This will give me energy !! haha! That’s the theory anyway. But principally I do it diligently for my heart health. Physical, that is. My spiritual heart is another story wherever you are … wishing you a day to remember. Bri.”

Many of his 3.3 million followers couldn’t help but praise the musician for his unwavering motivation. One person commented: “You really are a source of inspiration. I think I’ll go work out.”

A second said: “Excellent Shot Brian! Don’t work out too much mate! Rock on for tonight’s opening show. Take care,” as a third typed: “Ponytail Bri! You look so happy and healthy !! Go Rock their socks off!! You will be fabulous as you always are!”

Brian is known for being one of the leading band members of Queen, which formed in 1970. Since 2012, the band have toured live with the American Idol finalist Adam Lambert.

The band are currently embarking on a 2024 tour, kicking off with their February dates in Japan.

He shared a video of himself touching down in Nagoya after a flight, saying: “I hope I never grow up to the point where I no longer get a thrill from just being above the clouds. Always a beautiful day up here. Bri.”

Queen and Adam Lambert will also be taking to the stage in Osaka on February 7, Sapporo on February 10 and Tokyo on February 13 and 14. Further 2024 tour dates are yet to be announced.

It has been over 32 years since former Queen vocalist Freddie Mercury lost his battle with AIDS. During an interview with The Times in 2017, May recalled the moment Freddie told him “not to change anything”.

Brian remembered: “What we did was get on with business as usual, which is what Freddie wanted. He said, ‘I don’t want anything to change. We just do what we always do and we love what we do, so it’s going to be fine.’ Certainly, those days towards the end were fabulous, full of laughter and joy, Freddie as wicked as ever. He was incredibly matter-of-fact about everything.”

In 2018, the long-awaited biopic of the band was released in cinemas. What’s more, We Will Rock You which was a musical based on Queen’s hits ran in the West End for 12 years from 2002.
