Capital Breakfast presenter Sian Welby is set to present This Morning.
The programme’s resident showbiz reporter will host the daytime show as they continue to search for a replacement for Holly Willoughby.
It has been suggested ITV bosses were impressed with the radio presenter after she made several appearances on the programme and have paired her with Dermot O’Leary to anchor Monday to Thursday.
A source told MailOnline: “Sian has many years of presenting experience under her belt, she is very much ear marked as being a star of the future.
“She has done really well already on This Morning so the bosses thought it was time to give her the reins to the whole show rather than just segments.”
They added: “Viewers love a new, fresh face on the show so everyone involved in it is really excited.”
Representatives at ITV confirmed Alison Hammond and Dermot will continue to host their usual Friday slot.
The news was also shared on This Morning’s official Instagram account, writing: “Join @dermotoleary and @sianwelby next week on #ThisMorning! Tune in on Monday from 10am on ITV1, ITVX and STV.”
Social media users reacted to the news with congratulatory messages as Sian herself cheekily replied: “This news is about me and even I don’t believe it.”
Rochelle Humes wrote: “YES!!!!! @sianwelby. Get it girl.”
Kate Lawler gushed: “Wahoo Sian! Looking forward to watching you both.”
Sian currently presents Capital Breakfast alongside Roman Kemp and is also a regular reporter for This Morning.
She is the former anchor of Channel 5 News after being spotted by chiefs at the broadcaster in 2010.
The broadcaster also hosted a show on Heart Radio between 2017 and 2020.
Sian’s role on This Morning comes three months after Holly quit the programme 14 years since her show debut.
