She, of course, waved back, though she didn’t understand why he would be waving at her when they had never met. It then became apparent that he was saying hello to somebody behind her. Still, it worked in Selena’s favor, because “He felt awkward and inclined to then come over.”
This would have been Selena Gomez’s opportunity to turn the awkward encounter around. Until Benny Blanco spoke up.
During the interview, Selena Gomez explained that she has the habit of falling asleep watching her comfort shows, and for a while she has been watching Jason Segel’s How I Met Your Mother.
When Jason Segel walked up to Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco, Benny wasted no time before sharing her secret. “My boyfriend goes [to Segel], ‘Oh, she falls asleep to you every night’. Apparently, Jason Segel looked mildly horrified and exclaimed “That’s weird!”

As mortified as Selena Gomez was due to her boyfriend’s untimely comments in front of Jason Segel, she wasn’t really mad at him. In fact, when she told the story, there was clearly a lot of fondness in her annoyance. And that is because their relationship is really one of the best she’s ever had.
“Without getting into too much detail, I think it’s just really important to meet someone that respects you,” she said in an interview. “And I think it’s really nice to also lean on someone who understands the world that I live in.”
