Former self-confessed workaholic Simon Cowell has revealed his top tips for job success and family life.

The 63-year-old, who is behind The X Factor, Britain’s Got Talent and American Idol, has had a lengthy career within the music industry spanning back to the 1980s.

Reflecting on his work habits now and how he continued to remain successful, Simon said he only works four days a week and detailed his four secrets.

He explained to The US Sun: “Don’t work on Fridays, because you don’t have to.

“Eat dinner at five o ‘clock. Don’t take calls after 5.30.

“Don’t read emails after 5.30. Watch a happy movie. And stay outside.”

He said it was “just pointless” to work on Fridays and admitted his shift in mindset was down to becoming a father.

Simon and his wife Lauren Silverman welcomed their son Eric back in 2014 and went on to get engaged in 2022.

Although Simon sticks to his four-day week, he warned those following in his footsteps needed to be “absolutely focused”.

He explained when you were with your children you needed to concentrate on them, otherwise they would know you were “faking it”.

Simon suggested working parents had to really just immerse themselves when spending time with their children.

Adding: “And you just kind of just got to go there, you know? And it really is worth it.”

The interview comes ahead of Simon’s new series America’s Got Talent Fantasy League, which will premiere on January 1, 2024.

The new series will see some of AGT’s most beloved acts coming back and going up against each other, People reported.

Simon will be returning to the panel, alongside veteran judges Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel and Mel B.

Terry Crews will be on hosting duties with the judges choosing their favourite acts from a roster of 10 – similar to fantasy football.

As well as the acts competing, the judges will not only be coaching their teams but also be hoping to win the coveted title of AGT: Fantasy League Champion.

Earlier this year, legendary AGT act John Hetlinger died with fans going into mourning.

The latest series of AGT saw Simon drenched in water as Mel B made her return to the show, while he was forced to apologise after Howie pushed a buzzer which wasn’t his.
