Sophie Ellis-Bextor put on a show at the 29th annual Nordoff and Robbins Legends of Rugby Dinner, a charity event to raise money for music therapy.

The event was filled with stars from both the pitch and screen, including Love Island winners Millie Court and Liam Reardon, as well as Freddie Browne from Made In Chelsea.

The glamorous event took place at London’s JW Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel, honouring former England captain Sarah Hunter CBE.

It was hosted by actor and ex-rugby player Martin Bayfield. This year’s fundraiser also paid tribute to the late Paul ‘Judge’ Rendall, a long-time supporter of the charity.

A host of rugby players attended the event, including Chris Robshaw, Jason Robinson, Martin Offiah and Colin Charvis, along with Emily Scarratt MBE, who was honoured last year.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s performance was backed by singer Acanthaa Lang and musician Bernhoft.

The funds raised from the dinner and auction will add to the £1.7 million already raised for Nordoff and Robbins Music Therapy. Sarah Hunter CBE, star of England and Loughborough Lightning, was honoured at the event.

Sarah said: “I am honoured to be recognised at the Nordoff & Robbins Legends of Rugby Dinner, particularly as we pay tribute to the late Paul Rendall whose unwavering support significantly shaped this vital annual fundraiser.

“It’s heartwarming to see some of the biggest icons in rugby come together for such a meaningful cause and raise important charity funds.”

Sandra Schembri, CEO of Nordoff and Robbins, expressed her gratitude: “It’s been another brilliant evening here at the Legends of Rugby dinner and a huge privilege to honour Sarah Hunter CBE.

“What a touching tribute to late Paul Rendall too; a real rugby great who was an inspiration and loved by so many both on and off the pitch.

“We’re so incredibly grateful to see these vital funds being raised for Nordoff and Robbins for another year.”

She added: “We believe that everyone who needs it should have access to music therapy.

“The support we receive through this wonderful dinner brings us ever closer to reaching that goal, and allows us to help even more people through the power of music.”

Nordoff and Robbins is the nation’s largest independent music therapy charity which reaches thousands of vulnerable people through their bases across the UK.
