Strictly’s Adam Thomas struck down with mystery illness days before live show

Strictly Come Dancing’s Adam Thomas has taken to his Instagram stories to inform his one million followers that he is under the weather just days before the live show.

While the other stars are all busy perfecting their routines for next Saturday’s live show he posted an image from his sick bed in which he looked pale and strained and captioned it: “Of all weeks to be poorly!”

His illness comes after he and his pro partner Luba Mushtuk reduced his brother, former Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas, to tears with their Waltz last Saturday night.

He received an eight from all four judges giving him a total of 32, which was his best score to date.

It is unknown what is wrong with him at present but it is just the latest in a run of health issues to strike the dad of two.

In August he was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis after having tests throughout the year.

He has admitted that the condition has affected his training for the BBC show as he learns to live with it.

In a lengthy Instagram post, he revealed how he had been in a lot of pain with his symptoms starting in his knees before moving to his wrists and fingers.

He also shared that it has also spread to the actor’s ankles and toes which can affect his moves on the dancefloor.

“I thought that was something people later on in their life get… but that’s not the case, clearly! It’s been a tough old year but …Finally, I’m on the right plan now! Finally, getting it under control. For now! But some days are better than others and am not going to lie, it’s been hard not being able to train properly. It has had a huge knock-on effect for me personally, but not only that for my family too!!”

Earlier this month he was spotted limping in pain and sporting a strained expression as he wheeled his suitcase out of his hotel ahead of the live show.

Last week saw him share a health update from a hospital bed as he tried to get his arthritis under control.

The former Emmerdale star posted a picture from his hospital bed to his Instagram stories.

He captioned the image: “One day I’ll get my arthritis under control…but until then, more bloods and more doctors.” He finished off the post by saying: “Staying strong” followed by a strong arm emoji.

Strictly Come Dancing is on BBC One at 6.15pm on Saturday October 21.
