After Amanda Abbington reportedly requested footage from her Strictly Come Dancing rehearsals with dance partner Giovanni Pernice, the actress has gone silent on social media.
The 51-year-old appears to have taken a break from Instagram as she hasn’t posted in over a week. Amanda’s last post was a series of pictures of her adorable pet pooches, which was posted seven days ago.
Meanwhile, Giovanni, 33, has been regularly posting on social media as he promotes his new perfume. The professional dancer made a cryptic comment in his latest post, as he spoke about choosing to concentrate on the positive rather than the negative.
He said: “My fragrance VITA (Italian for life) is just that, a celebration of life. Of positivity when there is obviously so much around us which can be a cause for opposite.
“We are starting this journey with high hopes and ambitions, and with many more products in the pipeline.” Amanda quit the BBC show in October for “personal reasons”, leaving Giovanni out of the competition too.
It was reported earlier this week that the Sherlock star had sought out legal advice and approached bosses for footage.
According to The Sun, a source told them: “The BBC has received a request for the footage they hold of Amanda and Giovanni. It is known as a data subject access request.
“There is a feeling that the recordings will lift the lid on what really goes on behind the scenes on Strictly. Things in rehearsals can become very tense.”
The actress put out a statement on Instagram to thank her fans and co-stars, but failed to mention her dance partner, sparking further rumours of a feud.
She wrote: “It is with deepest regret that I had to leave Strictly. I did not come to this decision easily or lightly but for personal reasons I am unable to continue.
“It was an absolute joy working with my fellow contestants, they are a beautiful, hardworking and talented group of people who I love and who I will miss seeing every Friday and Saturday and competing alongside.”
Amanda went on to thank the “kind and caring” team who “looked after” her, adding: “I’m so sad that I am unable to go any further.
“Thank you to everyone who voted and who sent wonderful messages and inspiring support. You are all amazing. Truly. Thank you.xxx.”
