Years later, fans continue to speculate as to what happened to T.J. Miller? Was the comedian canceled by Hollywood? In the following, we’re going to take a closer look at what might’ve taken place behind the scenes. It seems like there was a certain moment that showed T.J. Miller turning his back on Hollywood, and it all took place during his time on HBO’s Silicon Valley.

We’re going to reveal what caused Miller’s exit, and why he might’ve opted for his career in comedy instead. We’ll also take a look at his work in recent years, and his troubling experience with Ryan Reynolds.

Let’s take a closer look.

T.J. Miller Said He Didn’t Identify As Being An Actor When He Left Silicon Valley

T.J. Miller’s stance on his departure from the HBO show Silicon Valley really felt as though he was turning his back on Hollywood and acting, in favor of his career as a comedian. Although Miller admitted leaving the show “felt like a breakup,” he stated that he wasn’t as crushed given that he identified as a comedian.

The actor revealed with THR, “I think that they made room for me to exit without ever really believing that I would walk away from the show. I think they thought I was a television actor and not a comedian.”

He continued, “I’m not an actor; I’m a comedian. And I don’t know how the f— I hoodwinked Hollywood into giving me a career in this. But I’m not sitting here saying, “I need more lines. I’m not funny enough.” I’m not Thomas Middleditch. I’m me, the guy that thinks all of this is sort of ridiculous.”

Miller would go on to reveal that his time on the show came to an end after his appearances were cut down to 5 episodes out of the 10 total. Miller then pitched that he didn’t appear in any at all, which caused his departure from the show.

T.J. Miller Was Tired Of His Schedule During His Time In Hollywood On Silicon Valley

Miller was pitched the 5 episodes according to the showrunners because of his schedule. Miller himself admitted that balancing the show and comedy was a tough gig together. The actor went on to reveal that he was tired of making his wife Kate Gorney empty promises that he was going to take time off.

“I was sick of telling my wife in earnest, “I’m going to slow down the schedule. We’ll have more time to spend in New York.” And even when I thought of leaving, she said, “Look, man, this is a character people love,” he tells THR.

“They feel like they’re friends with him.” And although that makes for a terrible time at the airport because everybody high-fives me, grabbing your ass on the way to your f— plane to Omaha, Nebraska, to do stand-up comedy — these people want to know, “Do you really want to walk from what many would say is the cushiest situation in television? The platinum age of television?” And I said, “Yeah, I think that would be really interesting.” If you’re going to be unsafe and unstable, then let’s see what happens.”

In the recent years, MIller’s resume in Hollywood seems to be empty, with his last credit coming in 2021 on F Is for Family, playing the voice of Randy for 5 episodes. In addition, it doesn’t seem like Miller plans on reuniting with others from the past, including Ryan Reynolds and Deadpool.

T.J. Miller Closed The Door On Working With Ryan Reynolds Again

For those hoping to see T.J. Miller and Ryan Reynolds reunite in Deadpool, you’ll be very disappointed. The actor doesn’t have interest in returning to Deadpool, claiming he would never work with Ryan Reynolds again.

Miller revealed, “I mean, would I work with him again? No, I would not work with him again. I sort of wish him well, because he’s so good at Deadpool. And I think it’s weird that he hates me.”

Miller revealed things took a turn between the two after a scene in Deadpool.

“We had a really weird moment on Deadpool where he said, ‘Let’s do one more take’, but then as the character he was horrifically mean to me – but to me, as if I’m Weasel.”

It would appear as though everyone has moved on since the ordeal, and it remains to be seen if Miller makes a return to Hollywood.
