How Did Taylor Swift Chip Her Tooth?
Taylor Swift was actually on tour when the accident involving her teeth occurred, but it wasn’t her Era’s Tour, it was a decade ago that Taylor Swift’s chipped tooth appeared.
Back in 2013, Swift was performing at the Heinz Field Arena in Pittsburgh on July 6th. While singing her hit song “I Knew You Were Trouble,” Swift had a lot more to deal with than simply singing about an ex-boyfriend.
“I try to be really quick with the microphone, so I’m not standing there just waiting to sing with my mic right next to my face,” Swift revealed to The Rolling Stone that year. “So I really quickly pulled my mic up to sing and basically uppercut punched myself in the tooth.”
“And then part of it fell onto the stage and I was like, ‘Oh, I wonder how bad that was. I wonder which tooth that is and I wonder how bad that is,’ and I was just trying not to chip another one.”
When describing what the chip looked like, Swift explained, “I had a tip on [the tooth] and it doesn’t anymore.”
“I’m not doing anything about it. It’s just gonna be a little bit jagged, I guess.”
Swift was true to her word for a long time. For over a decade, the singer and songwriter carried on with a chipped tooth. It did not seem to bother her, as she obviously had the money to fix it if she so desired.

However, Swift is also known for her vibrant shade of red lipstick. Licking her teeth could simply be a way of making sure her lipstick is not smearing across her pearly whites, because it would be quite noticeable if it did.
Fans have also begun to speculate if there is a reason behind her “teeth showing no smile” classic red carpet expression. Swift rarely smiles when posing, opting instead for this look.
In regard to why she does this on the red carpet, there are two theories among fans. One is that it is simply her natural expression and means nothing, but the other suggests that Swift could suffer from an overbite.
