Star Tom Cruise found himself on the wrong side of one of Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon’s challenges, and it resulted in the star being completely embarrassed. Several talk show hosts use different types of games on their shows as a method to help their celebrity guests open up in a fun way.
Jimmy Fallon has been known to play several different types of games with different celebrity guests. When Taylor Swift was visiting and played a challenge with Fallon in which they were guessing songs, Swift was surprised when she didn’t recognize her own song. Successful star Tom Cruise was also put in an embarrassing situation when he played against host Jimmy Fallon in a challenge involving raw eggs.
Tom Cruise Played “Egg Roulette” With Host Jimmy Fallon
Tom Cruise has been starring in successful Hollywood films for years, and has even helped others with films he wasn’t involved in, for example, when he started an unexpected bidding war for the film Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels.
He’s also known for pulling off his own daredevil stunts in his films, including the ones seen in the action-packed Mission: Impossible film series which follows one of Cruise’s most iconic action character’s, Ethan Hunt. Known to be more focused when on-set, fans got to see a more carefree side of Cruise when the Risky Business actor appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. During his appearance, Cruise agreed to play “Egg Roulette” with host Jimmy Fallon.
After introducing his guest, Fallon then told viewers and the audience that he and Cruise were “gonna go head-to-head, in Egg Russian Roulette.”
Fallon then asked an assistant approaching the two with an egg carton, “Higgins, you want to explain how this works?” At this point, the game was explained to the Collateral star as the eggs were presented to Cruise and the host, who were seated across from each other with a small table between them.
Higgins explained the rules: “Here in my hand, I have one dozen eggs. Eight of them hard-boiled, four of them still raw. You and Tom will take to select one egg at a time and smash it on the top of your head. You will not know which are raw, and which are hard-boiled.”
He added that, “Once you choose an egg you must smash that egg upon your head, no take-backs! The first one to smash two raw eggs on their head,” would ultimately lose the game.
Both Cruise and Fallon seemed to think they were likely to lose, however one of them lost surprisingly fast.
Tom Cruise Was On The Wrong Side Of Jimmy Fallon’s Challenge
When Tom Cruise and Jimmy Fallon played “Egg Roulette” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Cruise found himself on the wrong side of the host’s challenge, and it ended in complete embarrassment for the Hollywood star.
After the rules were explained, Cruise and Fallon were ready to start. The host allowed his guest star to choose first, which seemed to give Cruise a good chance of picking one of the hard-boiled eggs. Choosing one, the Cocktail actor felt it in his hand for a moment, unsure, before cracking it over his head, in hopes that it wasn’t raw. Cruise ended up with egg all over his head immediately.
Fallon was stunned the first egg Cruise had picked had been a raw egg. “It’s never happened! Oh my Lord, that’s never happened,” the host said, unable to control his laughter. “I told you I didn’t have a good feeling about this man,” Cruise said, laughing with the host. “I thought for sure the egg was hard-boiled. I was shocked.”
Next it was Fallon’s turn to choose. After he chose his egg, he looked at the star, and quoted one of Cruise’s most famous lines. “I feel the need…the need for speed!” before shoving what turned out to be a hard-boiled egg into his forehead. The host was thrilled, and Cruise felt confident the next egg he picked up wouldn’t be raw. “This can’t be the second one. Now, that would be impossible,” the actor said. However, Cruise pulled off what he thought impossible, and the second egg he chose was also raw.
Host Jimmy Fallon couldn’t believe that the second egg Cruise had chosen was again, a raw egg.
Fans Had A Blast With The Moment Between Tom Cruise And Jimmy Fallon
During his appearance on The Tonight Show, Tom Cruise stunned not only himself and host Jimmy Fallon, but also the audience when he cracked two raw eggs over his head, back-to-back, during Fallon’s Egg Roulette challenge.
Just like the eggs Tom Cruise chose at random from the offered carton, the audience, as well as users in the comments section were cracking up over the Top Gun star breaking eggs on his head.
One user joked, “‘That would be impossible’ Well Tom you are known for doing impossible things.” Another fan commented, “This had to be the shortest round of Egg Roulette ever with Tom getting 2/2 raw eggs. Legend!”
Another fan commented that despite the yolk on his face, Cruise still seemed to be having a good time. “I love how he was checking to see if they were all raw and it was fixed! I think he still had fun even though a little embarrassed and out of his element.”
Neither Tom Cruise nor host Jimmy Fallon could quite believe it, as Cruise looked astonished. “Two in a row?” The Firm actor said, shocked as egg dripped down his face, while Fallon, laughing said, “I can’t believe it, I’m sorry, I’m sorry!”
