Usher Will Be Paid $671 From SAG-AFTRA For His Super Bowl Performance

With a net worth of $180 million, Usher is doing just fine without a massive pay from the NFL. Nonetheless, the artist will profit in other ways as we’re going to reveal later. As for how much Usher will be earning from his Super Bowl halftime show performance outright, it really isn’t much for the amount of work he’s put in.

According to Business Insider, he’s making the minimum from the SAG-AFTRA rate, which is $671. He’ll also make a base pay for the rehearsal time leading up to it.

The publication writes, “He’ll also get paid for the rehearsals leading up to the big night — an average of $1,750 a week, based on a 35-hour workweek, per the SAG-AFTRA spokesperson — which is next to nothing for a superstar.”

Ben Affleck And Jennifer Lopez Made Millions For Their Dunkin Super Bowl Commercial, But Fans Think Affleck Actually Deserves It

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez made a fortune for their Dunkin Super Bowl commercial, but the ad was a breath of fresh air for fans.

Given those types of numbers, it is clearly the lowest paying gig for Usher in recent years. However, given the amount of exposure from such a platform, Usher can expect a huge boost to his music sales and future tours as well.

Usher Will See A Major Spike In His Music Sales Following The Super Bowl Performance, Similar To Other Performers

There are a couple of obvious reasons the NFL doesn’t pay Super Bowl halftime performers. Among those reasons include the insane production costs alone.

Country Living writes, “The NFL might not cut performers a paycheck, they do cover expense and production costs that can exceed $13 million, according to a 2020 Reuters article. “We do not pay the artists. We cover expenses and production costs,” said NFL spokesperson Joanna Hunter to Forbes in 2016. Plus, consider what else they gain by performing on the Super Bowl stage.”

In addition, performers can expect a massive spike in their album sales. Even the least popular performances resulted in a major shift to sales.

“J. Lo and Shakira saw a 1,013% sales increase of the 14 songs they performed during their combined act in 2020. Justin Timberlake rocked our bodies and the charts when his 2018 performance secured his fourth Billboard No.1 album, “Man of the Woods.” Even Maroon 5, whose 2019 halftime show was harshly criticized, saw the band’s sales spike 434%,” Country Living wrote.

Usher Is The First Ever Independent Artist To Play At The Super Bowl

Usher feels like his Super Bowl performance will give lots of hope to other artists as well. Usher is the first independent artist to appear on a Super Bowl stage. A major accomplishment for the artist, who feels like he manifested the Super Bowl performance.

“You know what hope that gives artists? I’m an independent artist now. Not, you know, I am playing catalog records. But for the most part, the work that I did here in Las Vegas, it led to this. So that means you, too, can believe in yourself,” he said.

In addition, the artist feels as though he manifested the gig a very long time ago.

“I’ve never literally walked on stage and said, ‘Thank you guys for recognizing what I do.’ But I can say I actually played the Super Bowl,” said Usher.

He continues, “I believe in the idea of manifestation and affirmations, right? The moment that I heard — I’ll tell you this now ’cause I have it. The moment I heard that they were entertaining the Super Bowl comin’ to Vegas, I was like, ‘I’m not leaving,’” said Usher.

Usher admits he’ll try to fight back tears, while taking a look back at his decades of work during the performance.

“It’s gonna be a celebration. I’m gonna try my hardest not to cry, break down and cry on the stage.”

“I want you to play the ones that we — that we love, that we know you for. Give ’em the moments that they, you know, look forward to seeing,’” like, ‘Go for the culture.’ And I’m like, ‘All right, I got you.’”

Without a doubt, the performance is one Usher won’t ever forget about.
