ABC anchors including Robin Roberts, David Muir to relay NYC marathon

ABC News has fielded a new team of runners.

Page Six has heard that a dozen ABC News anchors, correspondents and top execs — including “Good Morning America” host Robin Roberts and “World News Tonight” anchor David Muir — will run the 2023 TCS New York City Marathon as a relay team on Nov. 5.

Also part of the squad, we hear, will be ABC News president Kim Godwin, “20/20” contributor Deborah Roberts, “Nightline” co-anchor Juju Chang, “GMA3” co-anchor DeMarco Morgan and chief Washington correspondent Jonathan Karl, as well as talent including Will Reeve, Rebecca Jarvis, Byron Pitts, Whit Johnson and Linsey Davis.

The ABC team that will split up the 26.2-mile NYC course will run in support of Team for Kids, the premier charity of New York Road Runners, which puts on the marathon.

Perhaps ABC’s previously best known runners were former “GMA3” anchors Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes.

The ousted duo, who ran the 2023 New York City Half Marathon earlier this year, have suggested via social media they’ll also run the full NYC marathon together. Their infamous off-camera romance began when they were training for a race together.

As for the new and improved ABC crew, Deborah Roberts’ husband, “Today” anchor Al Roker over at NBC, has been an avid runner for years and may have some good tips.

Team for Kids supports the New York Road Runners’ slate of free community programs — including Rising New York Road Runners, which serves over 137,000 kids nationally.

We’re told that ABC News Live “Prime” anchor Davis said of the ABC relay team, “On a daily basis, we work together as a news team, so it comes naturally to run the marathon as a relay, passing a literal baton and doing it for the benefit of the youth in our community.”

It has yet to be announced which celebs will be running the marathon this year, but we previously reported that Amber Heard recently hurt her hip while training for the annual New York City Marathon.
