Alexia Nepola sparked confusion online when she was spotted with a large bruise on her face during the “Real Housewives of Miami” Season 6 finale on Wednesday.
The “RHOM” star, 56, explained via a comment on Instagram that the discoloration on her lower left cheek and neck was due to a cosmetic procedure gone wrong.
“I tried doing collagen stimulation threads (tiny ones ) in the jowl area and she got a little vein . It caused swelling and bruising right away,” she explained.
“It was really horrible. That’s with makeup and everything.”
“Collagen stimulation threads,” or a thread lift, is “a nonsurgical cosmetic procedure that lifts and tightens your skin for a younger look,” according to the Cleveland Clinic.
Nepola made her thread lift confession after several fans expressed concern for her after noticing the marking on her skin.
“Does Alexia have a bruise on her cheek? Am I seeing things?” one user posted on X.
Another chimed in, “Definitely need to know what happened to Alexia’s face and where that bruise came from. Wish someone brought it up #RHOM.”
Earlier this week, Nepola made headlines when she and Marysol Patton accused Larsa Pippen of fabricating her brief breakup from Marcus Jordan.
“Now that other things have come to light,” Patton, 57, said, “I’m starting to feel like we’ve all been scammed.”
“Everybody knows it’s staged,” the Alexia + Frankie’s Beauty Bar founder replied. “And this is why we’re even talking about it because it’s so ridiculous at this point.”
Pippen and Jordan fueled breakup speculation when they unfollowed each other on social media ahead of Valentine’s Day.

Pippen, 49, also posted a poll on her Instagram Story that asked her followers, “Should your friends unfollow your ex?”
However, they were seemingly back on by Valentine’s Day, as they spent all day together and went out for a romantic date night, during which the Bravolebrity showed off a massive diamond ring on that finger.
Pippen admitted to Teddi Mellencamp and Tamra Judge on Wednesday’s episode of their “Two Ts in a Pod” podcast that she regretted wiping Jordan, 33, from her Instagram so quickly.
“I couldn’t archive them, I just deleted them,” she recalled. “I was just emotional and impulsive I guess.”
“I’m a Cancer so I’m an emotional person so I feel like if you’re not loving me the right way I can distance myself and catch a beat,” she added.
