Alyson Stoner revealed they were blindsided when they were forced to have their first kiss on camera at the age of 12.
The actress — who uses they/them pronouns — recalled on TikTok the moment they had to kiss Dylan Sprouse for an episode of “The Sweet Life of Zack and Cody.”
“My first kiss and several of the times I experienced kissing all happened on camera,” they said. “I remember on ‘Suite Life’ on Disney, I’d already booked the role of Max and I’d filmed an episode.”
“Well, a few weeks later, they wrote an episode where Max had to kiss both twins,” Stoner explained while referring to the episode “Kisses and Basketball.”
The “Camp Rock” star, 30, furthered that they felt as if they had to do their job and “agree to whatever scripted.”
“I felt young and uncomfortable,” they continued. “I felt like, you know, this is part of my job. I chose to act and audition for this project. It’s only a character. So in that way, I justified like, ‘OK, I can have my kiss here and then I’ll have my own separate first kiss at some point.’”
The actress, who was recently featured on “Dear Hollywood,” opened up about their experience in hopes of exposing the untold secrets of the industry.

They revealed they weren’t initially told during their audition that kissing would be a requirement for the role, who was portrayed as a tomboy.
“So writers and executives might decide to make your character do anything on the next episode,” they explained. “And it’s assumed that you’re going to agree to whatever scripted.”
But while Stoner locked lips with Dylan’s character on-screen, they didn’t end up kissing his twin’s character.
Nonetheless, they later admitted on an episode of “The Night Time Show” in 2016 that they dated Cole as a preteen.
“The first boy, I guess, that I had like a crush on and dated was Cole Sprouse,” they admitted at the time.
They furthered that the “Riverdale” actor later broke up with them on their birthday, claiming, “It’s not going to work out.”
Stoner’s recently spoke out about the impacts of rising to fame at a young age, and how they were allegedly discriminated against when they first identified queer in March 2018.
“I did end up getting fired from a children’s show because they felt that I was unsafe, now that they knew I was queer, to be around kids,” they said in an episode of “I’m Literally Screaming With Spencewuah” podcast in June.
Stoner didn’t reveal the show they were booted off from but claimed it occurred shortly after they released a Teen Vogue article, where they admitted their attraction to “men, women and people who identify in other ways.”
They furthered they were warned by their managers of the “potential risk” of coming out, but, ultimately, it was the “Cheaper by the Dozen” star’s decision.
“It [was] totally my choice, but it could affect not only people’s perceptions but also like, hireability for jobs,” they said.
