Angel Carter pays tribute to sister Bobbie Jean after her death at 41: ‘Life wasn’t fair to you’

Heartbroken Angel Carter reflected on the “unfair” cards her sister Bobbie Jean Carter was dealt in life as she mourned her sudden death.

“To my older sister Bobbie,” she began the lengthy statement posted to Instagram on Sunday featuring snaps from her sister’s childhood.

“You had a great sense of humor, and a lively spirit. Growing up, I was your baby, and you were my best friend.”

Angel vaguely detailed the pain Bobbie experienced as she struggled with substance abuse throughout her life.

“Life wasn’t fair to you, that I know. Sometimes, it feels like you didn’t have a shot, no matter what. Experiencing innocence instead of being burdened by trauma, pain, and suffering is incredibly important for children, particularly at such a young age,” she continued.

Angel — who also lost her twin brother, Aaron Carter, in 2022 and her sister Leslie Carter in 2012 following their addiction battles — furthered she understood why they turned to drugs.

“I know why Leslie, Aaron and now you ended up in the circumstances that you did. I share that pain we experienced during our childhood and I’m sorry you didn’t have an opportunity for a better life,” she continued.

While it’s unclear how Bobbie died, Angel urged her followers to “break down barriers” and “reduce stigmas” around mental health to stop “generational dysfunction.”

“I love you BJ, you’re free now. 💔🕊️,” Angel, 36, concluded.

The Carter family matriarch, Jane Carter, revealed Bobbie’s “sudden” passing in Florida on Saturday — more than a year after her son Aaron passed and 11 years after her daughter Leslie died. She was 41.

“I am in shock from learning of the sudden death of my daughter, Bobbie Jean; and I will need time to process the terrible reality of this happening for the third time,” she told TMZ.

“When I am able to think clearly, I’ll release a fuller statement; but until then I would request to be left to grieve in private.”

“[H]owever deeply a parent feels the loss of a child, the suffering of a young child at the loss of a parent must be much greater,’ she continued.

“So, I would ask the sympathetic to say a prayer for my precious 8-year-old granddaughter Bella, who previously lost her father and is now also left without her mother.”

Bobbie’s struggles with addiction landed her in jail earlier this year after she was arrested on drug and retail theft charges in June. She was allegedly trying to steal $55 worth of crafts from a Hobby Lobby in Brooksfield, Fla.

At the time, she was brought into a room by store employees, and as they waited for police, she revealed she had several grams of fentanyl “in a panic.”

Meanwhile, Bobbie’s older brother, Nick Carter, 43, has yet to break his silence on her death.
